Hank already converted the wire harness connector to use an early 95-97 ECU.

It was converted back to the stock ECU prior to the sale....So it probably would throw a code the way it sits.

Geoff, did you find the box of extra stuff in the trunk? I'm not sure what the plastic piece with "LHD" on it was all about. The original owner gave it to me, so I included it. Also, the Mcgard lug nuts are for the stock wheels.

LOL, sadly no, I have been busy with work, training for a marathon, and life in general. I have not even had the chance to get the car registered. I only tookl it for a short spin when it was delivered. I will take a look tonight to see what is there!

The plastic piece with LHD is the ecu cover.

Ahhh, thanks Jet, I was trying to figure that out. Makes sense looking at the piece now.

Finally have some time with the holidays being done and work schedule evening out. Planning full clean/detail and maintenance on the whip within the next few weeks. This includes:

- oil/filter change (any recommendations on weight for a '99 motor with 83k? I was considering Rotella 5w40, but do I NEED to run an oil that heavy?)
- tranny fluid change w/Synchomesh
- New spark plug wires OEM in hand. General concensus seems to be that they are the best for general purposes.
- clean iacv and TB
- install CAI and clean/new filter
- do overall once over. New car, haven't even checked her out properly
- install new front brake pads
- install clear corners
- Install 96 G20 manual ECU

As I said the car is solid. Brakes are sorted, and it has some bushings, and suspension sorted. Next purchase will be cams (settled on Tomei for balanced gains, with no losses and they are cheap new. Cams and new VC gaskets are still cheaper than what I found used S4's for. UK guys have tons of success with them). Then coilover setup sometime in spring.

I will take some cell phone pics if it's not snowing tomorrow. I will also take before/after/progress pics as I maintain, clean, fix, and upgrade the whip!

Lastly, I have some questions about the b14 SEL chasis:

1) Do all b14s share the same exhausts?
2) is there an OEM Nissan/Infiniti headunit (preferably w/disk changer) that works with the stock harness?
3) are p10 front seats a direct bolt in swap?

Thanks all in advance.

I'd stay with 5W-30 synthetic. OEM wires are best. What brake setup are you running, is it stock? You should consider doing the NX brake upgrade. Enormous difference (will surprise you). I suggest getting Stoptech brand pads from Greg @ G-spec.com

95-98 200sx SE-R's have the same exhaust dimensions however the 4 door B14's (all of them, even the 1.6 models and the 2.0 model Sentra SE and SE-L) exhaust will NOT fit. I repeat DO NOT BUY A CATBACK FOR A TWO DOOR B14 (aka 200SX FOR YOUR SE-L - it will not fit.

The 99 SE-L came with a stock CD player, whats in there now? Also, no 6 disc players from the factory for the B14. I think they did for the 2002 Spec V though but don't know if it will fit physically or harness wise.

Why will it not fit?

Different lengths in the rear section... Trust me - I know first hand

A bit hard to explain without a photo, the pre-made cat backs for the 2-door B14's just won't fit in the area underneath where the exhaust piping is meant to hang on the 4 door B14's.. it's where the piping goes from the cat to a sort of "L" shape, it just doesn't work.

Wish someone had a pic to post to compare

Cool. Wasn't sure. Have used Rotella in the past and it's great for the price, but I was concerned with the heavier weight as I can only find 5w40 locally.

Car has NX brakes. Not sure if both front and rear, I will have to ask Hank who I bought it from. Rear pads look good, but fronts are on a autox/track pad. Just have cheapo AAP pads for the meanwhile. I'll check Gspec for sure.

Thanks for the heads up. Is custom the best route then? VRS's site is down currently, and that is where I was looking for piping at least. That sucks. Ebay doesn't have a huge selection of catbacks that I can find.

I will check a local junkyard for a Spec V stereo if I can find one. I know the G20 guys use the Pathfinder in dash disk changer as it fits with minor modification to the brackets. I'll start junkyard diving and see if I can figure out a stereo that will work.
