Finally have some time with the holidays being done and work schedule evening out. Planning full clean/detail and maintenance on the whip within the next few weeks. This includes:

- oil/filter change (any recommendations on weight for a '99 motor with 83k? I was considering Rotella 5w40, but do I NEED to run an oil that heavy?)
- tranny fluid change w/Synchomesh
- New spark plug wires OEM in hand. General concensus seems to be that they are the best for general purposes.
- clean iacv and TB
- install CAI and clean/new filter
- do overall once over. New car, haven't even checked her out properly
- install new front brake pads
- install clear corners
- Install 96 G20 manual ECU

As I said the car is solid. Brakes are sorted, and it has some bushings, and suspension sorted. Next purchase will be cams (settled on Tomei for balanced gains, with no losses and they are cheap new. Cams and new VC gaskets are still cheaper than what I found used S4's for. UK guys have tons of success with them). Then coilover setup sometime in spring.

I will take some cell phone pics if it's not snowing tomorrow. I will also take before/after/progress pics as I maintain, clean, fix, and upgrade the whip!

Lastly, I have some questions about the b14 SEL chasis:

1) Do all b14s share the same exhausts?
2) is there an OEM Nissan/Infiniti headunit (preferably w/disk changer) that works with the stock harness?
3) are p10 front seats a direct bolt in swap?

Thanks all in advance.

The IACV was a brand new unit from Gspec about 3000 miles ago. The TB was thoroughly cleaned at the same time that was installed. Those plug wires are the original factory wires. Replacing those would be advised.

Rotella T6 is what is in the car. I started running that about a year an a half ago. No issues. If you see winter temps in the single digits you can go to a 0W20 or 0W30. I like Mobil 1 0W30 advance economy for my daily in the winter.

The tranny fluid is Mobil 1. It's got about 18,000 miles on it. MT-90 would be a good choice, if you're gonna change it.

The P10 seats aren't bolt-in. They required a bit of work to do it right. I still have mine, and will be for sale shortly.

The rear brakes are factory stock with akebono proact ceramic pads. The master cylinder is NX. For a good street pad, I'd go with Stoptech street pads from Tirerack (part # 309.04840, $50 plus shipping) I like them better than Hawks HPS's. They're also $17 less expensive.

I also still have the 2.5" custom MagnaFlow exhaust for the car, if you're interested. With the silencer in it, it's livable. Without the silencer, I measured 99db at WOT in the car with all of the windows down. It's pretty loud without it....lol

Now thats what I call service after the sale
Part of the beauty of our community is how we can track the history of these cars and it usually feels like buying from a friend not just a random sale. Then being able to get continual info after the sale make it even sweeter.

How cool of you,Hank to follow this ...especially since you dont have a SR car anymore...your a good dude(not that I doubted that in the first place)

Ok Hank, no rush. Is it aluminized or stainless by any chance?

Quick update:

Alternator bit the dust, and I did not replace the battery when I changed out the alti so now I am off to Walmart to see if they will replace it per the warranty with no receipt lol.

New brake pads and rotors ( Amazon had the nx rotors for approx 20 each for no names, will get pics from my old phone. They look solid) as well as spark plug wires, and spark plugs have been installed. Still waiting to install CAI and Tomei poncams. I rarely drive during nice weather (cycle to work and almost anywhere I need to go) so I have felt no rush. But with road trip to NM and to Chicago in the coming months I need to stop being lazy.

Anyone have any install tips for the CAI? Do I need a jack to install?

I promise to take some pics this afternoon after work!

You don't need a jack to install a CAI. Just turn the wheel all the way to the left. Biggest pain is cutting thru the metal to get the filter inside it.
