Thread: Clutch Help

Hello All,

I am hoping someone can give me some ideas before I tear the trans out. I put a new clutch in about 7k miles ago. About two weeks ago the clutch went out, wouldn't shift into any gear, the pedal went to the floor. I replaced the CMC and Slave, bled and still cant get it to go into gear. It will actually go into 1st with a little force but only grinds when you attempt any other gear. Its got me stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you have it resurfaced when you put the new clutch in?
Go into gear when the car is off?

Yes, it was resurfaced even though it wasn't in bad shape when pulled. Actually it goes into gear fine with the car off not using the clutch. I thought that was odd. I even tried removing the spacer block on the slave thinking maybe it wasn't pushing the clutch fork far enough and that didn't help.

What brand clutch?

Sounds like a popped spring...

What car is this on?

Engine: SR or QR

Trans: 5 or 6 speed

I cant remember what brand it was, it wasn't a performance clutch. I had the trans rebuilt at the same time I did the clutch. Its on a 2000 SE.
