Thread: Driver side axle keeps ripping boot. Ride height?

I took my driver side axle to the axle shop because the rubber boot closest to the tranny was broken and all this grey gunk was everywhere. So when I got it back I installed it and drove the car for like a month. It just broke again today, I noticed because the grey gunk was everywhere again. I was kinda confused why it kept breaking. Especially since there's nothing even touching it or even close to it. So its not physically getting ripped open. The only thing thats running through my mind is the ride height. Only because the axle isn't flat, its at an angle becuase my cars dropped. It's not slammed, but it is a little low. If anyone has any ideas of what it might be or experienced this before let me know. Thanks

What is your ride height? Meaning how lowered is the car? Springs or coilovers?

I have coilovers, and that back looks like its stock height but the front....i would have to say like a 2-2 1/2 inch drop from the original moster truck height. My fenders are flush with the wheels.

Still to low...lowest drop on a sentra to do safely is 1- 1 1/2“. No more than that.

Dam. I guess it is too low. Good thing I have coilovers. Back to riding high.

on another note, iv had a problem where the plastic sheild was missing one of the plastic screws. when i would drive it would hit the axle, at a stand still it looked normal...

make sure the little plastic screw/insert is still there and holding the splash guard...

I did't even have splashguards when I got the car. lol

put an extra metal ziptie on it and call it a day

I raised my car up like 1' 1/2''. so far no issues. Off topic; does anyone make a rear o2 delete that would fool the ecu? Need one for inspection.
