Thread: Rim Question

Hello, I have little knowledge on wheel plus sizing and was wondering if someone could help me out.

So the mags I have on my limited edition 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE dimensions are 14 x 5.5JJ, they have 4 lugs.

I am pretty sure the offset is 1.47mm?

It also states the conventional tire size: P175/65R14

I am looking to get a set of summer wheels for the car to spice up the look a bit. I'm looking to get a nice set of 16" black ones and then put on/paint my brake calipers red. I'm sorry to say this car is all show, no go, but I really like it because it's my first car and I drive it all the time. Aswell as it only has about 40k miles on it so it'll be around a while. So anyways, can someone help me out with the plus sizing I'm going to need to do to put on a 16" set of wheels? What will I need to buy as for lug nuts etc. I know I'm going to have to spin balance the tires and have the car realigned. So I figured I would buy the tires from a shop instead of online since they will normally put them on for free/ spin balance them/ etc. I know it costs around $70 to have the car realigned, around $300-400 for a set of wheels, and can someone fill me in what I'm going to be looking at to pay for them to be put on and aligned?

To stay within the stock 175/65/14 circumference size (22.98"), go with a 205/45/16 tire (23.26" circumference size).

Are you talking about wheel size or tire size? So your saying keep my 14" rim size?

Hey Boombadan, he's talking about tire and wheel size. 16" to be exact.
If that doesn't make sense to you I can clarify.

I didn't want to reply to your thread at first because I didn't want to flame you. You have a lot to learn and we are willing to help you. Just realize you've basically said all the wrong things in your first post, and your second really shows how far you have to go.

Guys do we have a wheel size thread we can direct him to? I know we've been through this before as far as widest possible and such at the very least.

The safe wheel offset to go with is +38mm I believe regardless of wheel width/diameter.

Thats what I thought, and yes I do know very little on this subject but thats why I'm here Anyhow, yeah that thread would do me wonders if you could find the link.

Could you tell me what each 000/00/00 stand for? Thanks!

For example 205/45/16

205 = tire width in millimeters
45 = sidewall ratio of tire width
16 = diameter size of tire

Thank you! So the tire size you listed is the size I will need to plus size my wheel? Also will I need to purchase anything else besides the tire and the wheel? Thanks for the replys
