That is correct, that is how it is on our SE-L's. You can put a white bulb in, but I dunno if that would help... but wait I think there are 2 bulbs, because when backing up those lights are white...

I know the back up lights are on the trunk lid, but what he was saying the turn signal light also lights up when your backing up as well on an SE-L, or the red light is the brake/turn signal.
