Thread: The Headliner picture thread..

my b13 with sunroof currently has no headliner and the junk never has b13's with sunroof, so the only headliners i can find are non sunroof. will a non sunroof headliner even fit onto a sunroof one? can i just cut the hole out, lol?

Most upholstery shops will keep a roll of material that matches and is the same texture. Mine was only a hundred bux and they took out the cardboard (without screwing it up), completely cleaned off the trashed foam, put new foam and material, given they do it day in and day out it was well worth it, see above. Also had them do the visors; lost the mirror (wasn't worth the cost to do that bit); that was $60. Flawless work.
If you wanna do your own, biggest thing is to not screw up the cardboard. Stiff brush will clean off the old foam; then go to the old site and search; there's a discussion about the glues, and there is one of them that actually works, most don't hold up.

looking back over this thread, i can say i learned something.. the back seats have oh **** bars.. amazing.

Good info, thanks. My foam is so cooked and deteriorated near the edges especially that I want to replace it all. That's not something I feel like doing myself to save a few hundred bucks, not when I'm self-employed, it doesn't make sense.

Thanks again. If the foam was in better shape I'd get the fabric and give this a try but knowing a shop can replace it, now I just have to find a decent local one.

Try to find a small shop - at least in my experience the big fancy ones that purport to do high end cars will do lousy work on little jobs like this - and charge a fortune -- I was lucky to find a 'good ol' boy' who'd been doing this for many decades in a little concrete block shop that'd hold 3 cars inside. Shop was paid for, had no overhead 'cept heat and lights, which is part why I dropped a total of $160 on the liner and visors.

Werd..the guy I use over and over is a quiet redneck who looks just like Grizzly Adams. And his work is top notch. Plus its like $80.

So true I get nothing but crap most of the time from the "high end" local shops, where I live they are used to all the luxo-brands and a very high % of newer cars.

They treat me like a freak when I bring my "old Nissans" to get work done. One prick at a MIDAS (yes, a MIDAS) derisively said "Oooooh, LOOOK, it's a SENTRA!" within earshot of me when a guy who worked there recognized it from SCC. They were really unhelpful with my Altima, too, no more business from me. If I brought my Infiniti over, then they'd be all so helpful, the ass****s.

My local dealer is good for some of the mechanical work I don't want to do and they don't overcharge me, just hope the Service Mgr doesn't retire soon, or I'll probably be back to square one.

Now I just have to find a local who isn't empire building spending all their time working on new BMW's and get my liner done!
