1993 SE-R Project
So, it finally is time to do some replacements on my se-r. I have had her since 2009. Bought her with exactly 202,000 on the clock, and now she has 246,232.

When i brought her home. Aug 25, 2009.

The Joys of Living in Apartments....
----------------------------------
Someone felt the need to break into and go through property.

1 hour later, fixed. In 18F weather.

Jan 17, 2011
------------
New valvecover gasket. Old one was leaking a tiny bit.

Feb 19, 2011
-------------
Bought this center console for 40$, off of a forum member on here.

10 minutes later...installed. All while i was on my way to work. Couldn't wait for later.

March 16, 2011
---------------
Found a Burgundy 1993 Sentra SE, with the same interior on the Junk Yard. Left with a working non-leaking Sunroof.

Oct 12, 2011
------------
Had a nasty leak by the Cat. You could see the exhaust escaping during winter time. Fixed for 40$.

Nov 08, 2011
------------
My friend trying to change my brake pads, but they were still good. So we left them.

July 04, 2012
-------------
Had a squeak from the passenger side wheel. The front would shift and squeak every time i stepped on/off the gas.
Turned out to be a very loose ball joint. My friend changed both lower control arms.

New one installed.

Old one.

"Newer" Used tires and an alignment.

Aug 31, 2012
-------------
The old engine had ~55,000 and low compression on cylinder 4 Compression was 125 125 125 100. It was getting harder and harder to pass emissions, and the idle was all over the place.
Sometimes when i stepped on the clutch, the engine would stall.

So, this came for me at my work. 525$ + 165$ Shipping = 690$ for everything.

The Rockauto Combo. Just to get it going after the swap. Should have gone with a B15 Clutch+Pressure Plate, but funds were barely left over for a tank of gas then.

September 09, 2012
-------------------
My mechanic's work almost done. The JDM SR came with an electronic distributor. My mechanic didn't know what to do, so i researched it and we used the old one.

September 13, 2012
-------------------
Finally done. Unfortunately My Mechanic's Mother died a day after i took my car to him for the swap. That is why it took almost 2 weeks for the swap.

November 11, 2012
------------------
Like many B13s, i had door sag. One day as i was turning right, the door opens up. I look down to find this.

Next day, my friend fixed it for 20$.

November 14, 2012
------------------
My friend rebuilt my distributor for 45$.

December 27, 2012
------------------
Replaced Inner+Outer Tie Rods.

February 11, 2013
-----------------
After leaving a club, i turn the car on to warm up a little. It dies 20 seconds later. Turns out it was the pump.

May 12, 2013
-------------
For about a week i had been getting clicks when trying to start the car. And pushing the car down a not-too-steep-enough apartment drive way, then jumping in quickly to clutch start it really does a number on your legs. The whole time i kept thinking it was the ignition switch. I even had the starter tested and it tested good. So my friend's brother replaced the starter, thinking it's going to at least have a new starter. Turns out it was the starter.

May 27, 2013
-------------
Bought a new valve cover (with the black stripe in the middle), as the silver one was ugly. Replaced the gasket too.

The Joys of working at a job with no garage cameras.
---------------------------------------------------
As the title says, my car got backed into. Probably by that F-150 that was parked across from my stall.

Removal.

New Bar.

Old Bumper is out.

Finished.

I would love to go with a DET, since this car is turbo ready, but living in a condo makes major work hard.

Another Joy of living in Apartments. Somebody tried to break open my trunk and ended up tearing off the trunk hinge. So i had an idea to drill two holes in the metal that holds the hinge to the body, and screw it in with two screws from a junkyard sentra.

--------------------
Had to change the alternator. The old one was still good, but it started smoking because it was covered in oil. And i totally forgot to swap out pulleys, so now this one is a little bigger and the belt is on tight, which makes the alty make a humming noise. Is that really bad?

December 21, 2014
----------------------
While driving home on the freeway, my windshield washer pump died. With it snowing and salty roads, i had to rely on semi trucks to wash off a bit of the salt on my windshield. It was not fun.

Old one.

New one.

April 08, 2015
----------------
Changed the Front brake pads today. Finally they were used up enough to warrant changing them. After 6 years.

September 07, 2015
------------------------
I got two passenger side door hinges from an Automatic SE-R, from the junkyard, and finally got to replace my driverside lower hinge.

November 07, 2015
-----------------------
Something, for the last 2 years, has been drawing power from my battery when the car is off. A new battery would be weak by tomorrow. I tested the draw with a multi meter and narrowed it down somewhat to Fuse #4 (The Radio, interior lights, clock), and it draws about 0.40 - 0.45 amps (or miliamps?). I have been taking the fuse out every time i park the car over night and it is fine the next morning.

My friend checked to see if the radio was wired up correctly, and it seems to be.

May 21, 2016
-------------
The whole engine and transmission feel a little clunky. So i started to slowly swap out bushings. I could only install the front for now, because i have the small 2 ton autozone jack, and it raises the car barely enough to set it on the 4 ton stands without the black forks.

Old ones

New ones. Bought the front and rear with new bolts and plastic inserts.

May 23, 2016
-------------
The link pins looked horrible. The top bushings were pretty much gone. I got some regreaseables from autozone, which i shouldn't have done, but they can be temporary.

Old Driverside one was rusted pretty bad. The passenger side was easy.

Go VE if you want less hassle. In a B13 its easy as pie, and will even run off the stock ECU (although not very well) - get the wiring done, some minor parts, and ECU tune and your golden!

I would love a VE, and have been thinking seriously about it for the last 4 years, but here in Salt Lake City they do Emissions, and have started looking for an egr valve. That's why i'm thinking more towards a DET, because i can still keep all my EGR stuff.

I see. Old Man Emissions once again ruins the party. F the EPA.

Reading this is so similar to the maintenance intervals I had with my former daily driven B14. Pretty much uncanny on the same mileage and same services performed!

Keep on loving it like you are. Pretty neat cars when they are serviced, they last forever.

DET sounds to be the best choice for ya, very plug in play.
