If you were concerned about weight why didn't you went with manual rack and place alt by where the power steering pump is and call it quits? Why would you change belts too often ? What brand of belt are you using? Out of all my cars , 1 p10,1p10t, 2 se-l's, 2 b14's, 1 p11 and 2 nx's ive owned I've never replaced a stupid belt i know its a stupid question but what makes you think youll go through belts like timing belts? After all are they too hard to swap?

Already talked about the alternator idea in post 4 above, between getting the appropriate bracket and alternator, and the extra load on the outer part of the crank pulley, I wasn't crazy about this idea for this specific engine. Also in post 9 above, I mention that this will be on a track car, and things tend to break more often during a race than they would on the street. So it is quite likely that anything I don't plan for will be the first thing that needs replacing. And during a race, any repair needs to be done quickly so you can get back on the track.

As for which belt, since I'm still working on getting the right pulleys, I don't have a belt # yet since I don't know what length I'm going to need on this specific build. It may or may not match anything someone else is running on an SR20 by the time I'm done.

I was at the local salvage yard today, and picked up one of the Honda Civic tensioners, for anyone curious, here is what that assembly looks like:

I do like what @TRUSE-R did with that install, and it makes use of the entire Honda bracket. Looking at what @92_sEnAtRa did with the pulley, it seems that a custom plate was fabricated, and then mounted onto the remains of the SR20 Power Steering pump, using only the Honda pulley and not the original Honda bracket.

I took a good look at the PS pump assembly last night, and saw that just behind the pulley there were three bolts that attached the entire pump assembly to the outer edge bracket. Removing these left me with a bracket that would pivot exactly how the PS would, all I need to do is work up a fairly short piece that would bolt on to this bracket for the Honda pulley to attach to, and then a few washers to space it correctly. I hope to be working on that this week, and can post a few pics once I've got something presentable.

Just an update, I had a few things at home get in the way (typical), but I should hopefully have this done this weekend. No pics at the moment, but what I'm doing is taking the bracket that the PS Pump attached to as mentioned above, and having that mount as it had been, but without the PS Pump attached (of course). I was trying to find a suitable chunk of metal that would be a good bracket for the pulley itself to mount to, thick enough and strong enough to avoid deforming from the pressure involved. I came across some of the metal brackets that were on the rear of my old engine that bolted between the intake manifold and the engine, nice and thick, not too big. Found a straight piece about the right size, drilled a lower hole and ground off a bit of excess so it would fit, should be perfect.

I just need now to drill a centered hole for the pulley bolt, and figure out how many washers I'm going to need to space this out to line up.

Pics soon.

I used that same pulley when i deleted mine a long time ago. I dont remember having to add any bracket to make it work. Some how i had it mounted to one of the original mounts. It has been so long ago and have since had to add the powersteering back on due to scca it class rules. I do remember it being a pain to get lined up right.
