Who's installed a clutch?
I just pulled my engine last week and when all is said and done I wanted to know if there was a trick to bolting the engine back to the transmission in terms of the clutch. Is this where the alignment tool comes into play? Any help would be appreciated.

I use a 14mm(or was it 12) deep socket to align the disc. Remember the tranny/block spacer before you bolt the flywheel back on. When slapping it back together I like to sit on straddling the engine and wiggle the tranny until it slaps on there. It usually makes a very satisfying hollow clunk sound that will let you know its on there.

If you have more specific questions write them up.

Unless your pretty strong and even if you are its a lot easier for me if you have another person there to help slide the transmission on the car. Then 1 guy can hold it while the other guy puts a couple bolts in. Otherwise you can rent a special jack for transmissions from a lot of places. I've used one before and it made things quite a bit easier. The only thing about that is you have to have the car up a little higher I think.

Ugh I just saw you pulled the whole engine..... What I said basically applies to putting the trans on when the engines still in the car. I just woke up, I fail.

Yeah I got the engine still in the car right now, the clutch is still on the engine so as I see it I should be able to just slide the two together just like it came apart.

oh ok well its the usual thing removing the trans. the starter has to come out the speedo cable, and the drive axles, and then all the bolts around the bellhousing then w/ a jack slowly remove it. then remove the clutch it has bolts around it then take it out, if your removing the flywheel, i used an airgun cause there torque down. u should get an alignment tool which is very very important when reinstalling the clutch then the trans should slip into the notch then reverse the uninstall phase.

someone back me up if im missing something

Well with the engine in the car you can be macho and try the "bench press" install. The tranny is not really heavy. You need a spotter though to throw the bolts into it and/or call the paramedics if you mess up.
