how are your moldings?
besides engine and suspension, one of the obstacles I face with this 20 year old car is the moldings. 90% of them are all hardened and break off or missing from previous years and owners. Even if I go to the junkyard, I could search for years for a decent set or even the one that I'm lookin for. Lately, I realized the one making the most noise for me is the one that's discontinued, the window welt. This one connects the outside frame to the channels in the window for the door. The pieces from the outside of the oem seat belt bracket on the door is ripped off, so it doesn't grab the window(so theres a big gap and the window shifts left and right) and the pieces in the window channel is ripped, so it's loud while I'm driving w/ sounds of gushing wind. I think if I take care of this big one, I should be fine. But its discontinued so I can't spend $170 on a molding even if I wanted to! ha
How are you guys fixing your molding issues? I was able to find a decent one and used silicone to connect the moldings together, but as you can imagine, it doesn't work well, but it did cut 50% of the noise from the wind. I've seen some custom moldings from Rock Auto, but they're limited in their shapes. I may try to make something from there as that's the only choice I have. Unless I find a vendor or someone selling new discontinued moldings or I get lucky at a junkyard.
