I'm wondering if that contributed to it allowing more power to get to it. I don't know how or why the 20A got in there; just got a bunch of new 15A fuses and will swap with the 20A and get a new resistor, actually install it in the spot with the screws, and see if that works.

The fuse doesn't care about the voltage, just the amperage, so it wouldn't have contributed. Although if it's calling for a 15 amp then it shouldn't have anything higher installed.

If you install the resistor with the over-volting alt and it doesn't blow then the culprit was lack of the fan cooling it. If it does blow again it's that pesky alternator.

Picked up a new alternator today. My current one is still under warranty by Bosch too. So weird, and it was a good one, like $180. You can get alternators at Autozone for $82 after the $20 core return, so I guess I just got one that kinda sucked. lol

If this means anything to anyone, this is location on the resistor that keeps going bad. It was the same spot three times, pointing to it:

New alternator install is still in progress, and I replaced the 20A fuse with a 15A (B13 uses two 15A fuses for the resistor, I have no idea how I wound up with a 20A in there). Once the alternator is installed, I'll get yet another resistor, and properly install it and hope that I have heat again.

You need to replace the switch in your climate control. That is what is keeping you from getting the 4th speed. It is a pain to get to, but it will just pop right out.

Where can I get an old one, the junkyard? Imagine Nissan doesn't make 'em anymore

I have one laying around that hvac control as they call it. How much that resistor set you back? My heat only works on 4 and im tired of burning my eyelashes off on the way to work every morning.

Funny that on even setting "3" the heat isn't even that warm. It has more of a cooling effect, well it did, when it was 0 degrees or below. Settings 1-2 worked best when it was REALLY cold. Now it's in the 50's and raining right now, i'm sure it's warm

Did the resistors stop blowing?

Yep, as soon as I put in the new alternator, fixed!!
