which jdm SR20DE(T) will fit?
well, after not being able to do anything about my hydro-locked engine (as seen on my previous post), i have no choice but to replace it since i don't want to get rid of my b13. i have been doing a lot of research online and i've been looking at websites such as jdmenginedepot, osakajdmmotors, jdmtigerjapanese, jdmengineimports, etc. and i have seen a lot of different sr20det's. some of them don't say if they would fit in a b13. also, i've seen the sr20ve's and i have seen different valve covers. what do the valve colors mean? i want to get a jdm sr20de of course, if ever an sr20det with the most hp available if possible, as long as i can afford it. which is the one (or the ones) that would fit in my 92 se-r?

Pretty much all your answers are right here:

Well along the same lines all you need to know is if there are no VVL solenoids on the back of the head it's not VVL. Blue (usually) = SR16VE (1.6L), Black with no CAS on the back = SR20VE (2.0L), and Black with CAS on the back = SR20VE P12 20V (2.0L). As we have all seen if it's red it's more then likely a roller rocker with a VVL sticker

For the DET the reason not all will fit is because some are for RWD (typically 240SX) and they usually put that as a disclaimer on the AWD because the trans won't work unless you severly modify the car.

Yeah make sure you get an AWD SR20DET (bluebird, avenir, r'nessa or pulsar) the RWD ones won't fit (S13,S14,S14, 180SX, 200SX)

All the VE engines will fit in your car. Black cover SR20VE (most common one) is found in the P11 Primera, U14 Bluebird & Y11 Wingroad. The much rarer and expensive SR20VE is found in the P12 Primera. This also has a black cover, but the coil/spark plugs are covered with a plastic covered which says "Neo VVL". Other VE engines have a neo vvl badge on the bottom of the cover.

Lastly the SR16VE Which has much bigger cams, High compression pistons (when fitted with a DE crank & rods) Blue rocker cover and sometimes mated with a very good LSD gearbox is more commonly found in the N15 Pulsar VZR but some rare models of B14 & B15 also came with the SR16VE
