Its not having the OEM battery cover is the problem.

The problem is the OEM connector to the battery has already rotted off and they have an aftermarket battery connector on the positive terminal.

Mr SE-R I am sure your original connector has not rotted off and you are probably at 120-130 K miles.

Yep! Still has it, plus the original oem positive terminal cover too. And wish my car had 130k, it has 190k.

My point....

Everything is 100% with 190,000 miles.

All the replacement batteries have the same size terminal. The cover fits them all. My SER has never seen a factory battery since 97. What used to be my 93 white NX2000 with 160,000 miles as seen a motor change to VE and 2 battery changes and the terminal is perfect.

So you are saying that this car with 47,000 miles, which has been kept inside most its life has gone through a few batteries in which he broke the terminal. Lets be realistic here.

20 year old car with 47,000 miles.

So lets say he has changed the battery 4 times or once every 5 years or 1 every 10,000 miles so 5 times. He this Nissan mech has broken the terminal. Then in that case he sucks as a mechanic.

I have seen SERs with 300,000 miles and way more battery changes in perfect condition.

1 in 30 SERs I see have fucked up terminal and all the ones that do have 150,000 miles or more.

This is bullshit all over.

I think you bring up a lot of good points, but all could be explained quite easily and none would offer any definitive proof that the miles on the car aren't for real. Until someone goes to take a look, or better yet runs the VIN through Carfax the car is innocent until proven guilty.

Car fax is another waste of time. A car can get into a crash twice a year and be fixed by the owner and nothing shows up. Crashes only show up if they are reported to the insurance.

I can get rear ended in my car. The guy who hits me pays me cash to fic the car as not to go through his insurance, then go to the junkyard and buy a back half of a car take it to my local body shop, have him chop up the car and weld it on and it will never be seen on car fax.

I have seen more cars than most, worked on cars for 20 years and I can tell you by looking at a car what is going on as far as wear and tear goes

My 08 se-r was rear ended 3 times, fixed 3 times at alpine auto body, and you know what, it never showed up on a car fax because it was under a certain dollar amount

Car fax means crap.

We're not trying to determine if it's been in an accident, that could be determined by actually going to look at the car. We're questioning the miles on the car based on the pictures, no? Carfax should show registration renewals and mileage at the time.

I emailed the dealer and requested a copy of the Carfax.

dont you understand this is meaning less.

Case in point. In FL you do not give your miles on your car when you register it.

If I was a bad guy and wanted to get top dollar for my car and lie about it.

Get gauge cluster from wrecked car. These cars were being totaled from day one. Anyway so I bought one for $100.

92 I drive car for 10,000 miles.
93 I drive car for 10,000 miles
94 I drive car for 5,000 miles
95 I drive car for 10,000 miles

and so on until 2012

Every year after that I pullout the original cluster and put in the junk cluster. I drive the car for 1 month with the original cluster so when I go in for inspection my cluster has gone up say 1000 miles. I get it register and junk cluster back in.

It is so easy to fool people with these older cars and so many fall into the trap.

Carfax sucks! They said, if you car have was involved in an accident, and is not in their report and u have way to prove it they will give u your car value back. One word to that, BS. Once they get your money that's it!

Don't get me wrong, it can be a good tool, but u can't thrust them 100% like they want u to believe.
