Buying a 1991 SE-R
First off, Hello sr20 Peeps! My name is John and I am attempting to buy a B13 SE-R. Can anyone help me out? I've posted pictures of the car I'm thinking of buying below. I know it's kinda beat up, but I've seen worse. I do have concerns of it's authenticity. For one is it normal for the badges to be swapped on the rear?

eg. normal = Sentra SE-R
this car = SE-R Sentra.

Any buying advice or suggestions are welcome? And is there any sort of buying guide check list for these cars? I mean besides, compression, smog, leaks (oil, coolant, water in the sunroof etc.)

No it is not normal for those badges to be swapped. That thing is in rough shape.
Typical things to look out for are rust in and around the front door jam/hinges/rocker panel. Power steering leaks can be common. Water leaks around the rear tail lights. Uhhh... Broken shift return spring... Broken interior door handles and plastic surrounds. Check all the suspension joints for age.

Okay, maybe I should be more specific. Please provide advice and any reasons for said advice. Why the $400 mark, is it the rear dent, paint condition? etc.

thats what the car is worth in my eyes. I would take all of the ser stuff and put it into a cleaner xe sentra. That car has been abused and def in more then one accident

Whats the asking price

Alright, now that I have an understanding of the reply I can make sense of your first comment. I'm not trying to pull out everything and put it into another vehicle body. I want to buy a car and drive it while possibly mod some things (split fold seats, power windows maybe, upgraded brakes etc.)

I know these cars are two decades old, but I don't want to be doing huge swap projects right out of the gates.

Asking price is $1,500 or best offer.

Best offer on that thing is no where near that asking price. I'd give them $250 for it. Maybe...

If you want a car to drive around, don't buy that thing. You can find MUCH better for yourself if your budget is even in the $1k area.

are you mechanically inclined in anyway? If not then dont even think about buying that car, not trying to be a dick but these cars are old and if you dont do the work yourself you will be digging a nice deep grave in your pockets really quick
