My VE swap into my 92 B13
*Pics and Vids would be up later today!!* 4/18/08!! (I promise Keo, you non believer! lol)
So I'm currently doing a VE swap into my B13, and I just wanted to share
I'm in no rush and taking my sweet time on the swap, plus, I'm a part time student at a Community College and I have work. My friends and I learned a lot through this process.
I'm going to use my DE ECU for now, so I'll use my DE O2 sensor, MAF, TB, AAC, Temp Sensor and other stuff i can't think of right now.
So I started Monday 3/31/08
We started at 8PM. We just did the basics today, Pulled the hood off, Jacked up the car, removed wheels and unbolted the struts off to get more free play for the axels. Took off the Intake piping w/ MAF, Removed Battery w/ Tray, and drained the coolant and removed radiator w/fans.
That was all for the night.
Tuesday 4/1/08:
I just drained the tranny fluid, and removed both of the axels.
Wednesday 4/2/08:
I had class in the morning till after noon, and then I had work. So I came home and just removed the Starter since it was late. :o
Thursday 4/3/08
Today I pulled of the tranny, started taggin' and baggin' everything into Ziploc bags to stay organized
Looks so empty w/o the tranny...
My friend Jonathan helping me clean the tranny, thanks man
Saturday 4/5/08
I didn't do anything w/ the B13, so I just wanted to make sure there were no sludge when I popped the valve cover
My VE came with everything; (Some stuff that I dont even need but oh well) CVT Auto Tranny, VE Ecu, and the Wiring harness. I removed the A/C from the VE as well.
No Sludge!! Huge relief
My VVL Solenoids!
Sunday 4/6/08
Pretty much pulled a lot of hoses, fuel lines, sensors, etc etc, still taggin' and baggin' everything to stay organized and BAM the DE came out!
After that, I cleaned my engine bay, and then later took off the Auto CVT Tranny off the motor.
Tuesday 4/8/08
I finally removed that stupid Toruqe converter off the motor! I didn't know how to do it at first, but then I hoisted the engine and saw the black plate w/ (2) 10mm (or 12mm..i cant remember) at the very bottom of the engine, on the upper oil pan.
Then I swapped over the temp. sensors and called it a day. It started to rain.
Oh yeah, I ordered my Greddy MSS
Thursday 4/10/08
Today, I went with my friend to Speed Factory in Tacoma. He finally got his K20 Boosted. That sh*t hauls ass its at 8psi and pulls like a mother.
When I got home, I just swapped over the 259cc injectors into my VE fuel Rail. (I'm getting there)
Tuesday 4/15/08
I swapped over the clutch, grinded off the bottom bolt to the distributer, and transferred all the dizzy stuff to the VE. Hoisted The Engine over the engine bay and started prewiring everything. Extended a few wires and almost everything is plugged in. Just need to connect the brake booster from the fire wall onto the top of the Intake manifold.
Wedsnesday 4/16/08
Today, I finished all the wiring. Everything is plugged in. (Thanks Dudeman). All hoses are connected also. Engine is mounted back into the engine bay. All i need to do is, but radiator back in, buy a new b14 oil filter, fill trans fluid etc and Still need to wire up the 'vtec'
Thursday 4/17/08
Got the battery in and started it up! It runs just fine Had to advance to the timing a bit because i think it retarded a tad bit, and the ECU wasn't plugged and (I forgotI unplugged it and that didn't help either )
I just need to wiring up the GReddy MSS still. Then It should be ready to go, and I'll have more pics and vids up on the weekends. Thanks for Lookin! :o
Friday 4/18/08
At first, After filling up trans fluid, and puttin the axel together, the b***h wouldn't move. The Passenger side axel was movin, but the driver side was strugglin'. I knew I made sure the Driver axel was in, because it locked in and no leaks came out. So I realize the Outer CV joint came loose and knocked that sucker back in. After that, I dropped the cars and.....I can't wipe the smile off my face
Heres some pics though;
The money shot, I managed to use the stock VE intake piping by using some extra hoses and clamps, and Dont mind the Winshield washer hose on the hood. Using Stock DE exhaust mani, and Secondarys so....its gonna restrict my VE.
The cluster: It idles pretty good. 224k on chassis, 40k on motor.
Me, making sure everything is okay. It was snowing in Seattle....so it was really really cold. Had to bust out with the beanie.
Pic of the VE running and lights on.
Even more pics to come! Dave and I are anxious to wire up the MSS here!
