I did it on my car and I have paid for it to be done on cars before.

How bad was the rust? Pictures?

I had water gathering in the back from rust leaking through the rear wheel well into the trunk. Every time water was on the road, it was in my trunk. Eventually, the water pooled in different parts of the trunk and the wheel well. I fixed all of it and stopped it.

Depending on what you have to work with in terms of tools, it is free to at least stop the rust from spreading.

Your car, sir

Here is your answer.

Or ignore the rust and pretend it's not there since you back tracked already by putting it back in the bay which probably took close to as much time and effort as relocating it in the first place.

I think you should just throw the trunk carpet back in over the rust spot and instantly solve your problem

cut out the trunk then weld in a flat piece.

I hear you, but think about the time spent if you were to have done it yourself. Plus the cleanliness of the bay after it was done, and the importance in doing so if you were to ever turbo.

If you're planning on returning the car to stock, then I'd understand. But the trunk is probably one of the easiest places to fix rust on the car, especially if it is on the floor like you say it is.

By all means do your thing but the general consensus seems to be fix the rust before returning the battery.

Yeha I know, I understand the point. But I have almost zero time to work on things like this AND I live in an apartment complex where there's no where to really work on the car. A friend of mine's father is a welder, but he wants like $100 to do the job. So I just relocated it to prevent it from doing further damage.
