I'm well aware of what an SR20DE/VE will do. I'm very involved in the Nissan world. I also know what the QR is capable of.

The QR has been around for 10 years. 5 years in nissan released a 7000 rpm 200hp 180ft/lb version of the QR. 2013 they are introducing a 260hp260tq supercharged factory motor...... once that motor comes out, I foresee the forced induction power potential going way up.

If it ends up with sodium filled exhaust valves, rods designed for high output, low compression factory pistons and better coolant flow...... I foresee them being able to make a lot more power.

Just like every forum, for every person that actually made good power, 20 people blew their motors, no motor or forum is an exception.

I like building fast cars, I like straying from the well beaten path.

And the good part for you QR guys is yes, the QR is still in developement and being improved by nissan. Just think they could have went a different route. The route we would have all loved to have seen. But they didnt and they are continuing on with what they have so might as well make the best of it because it doesnt look like the QR is going anywhere any time soon.

stray too far off the path and you're liable to get stuck up to your axles

if people didn't stray, you wouldn't know you could run SR16 N1 parts. If you can see the goal off in the distance, you'll make it there.

^^^^ what?

still a SR series engine, just smaller displacement.Dont see your argument there...
Anyways big pros for developing parts for that engine

you hope LOL

i still say BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to you
you should stay in your little QR25 barbie world , you may be able to make good power with it, but it wont change anything. its still a very shitty designed engine, can't rev it, weak. you shouldn't have come here to defend the QR, lol, should have stayed home eating your lucky charms. i like how you QR followers continuously stated about more SR's blowing up than QR's, well as you QR guys stated, the SR has been around for 20 years, well they have been through alot more abuse and torture so of course, in the timespan of 20 years you will grenade alot of engines. if i remember correctly in the first years of development of the QR engines were recalled do to pre-cat falure, they were replacing engines("02modles)...then the following year("03 model) they had valvetrain issues and were again recalling specV's to replace engines...if this all high and mighty QR was such a super awsome, sick bro platform, why is it only available here in the states and no where else. you can still get an SR in japan and why is the SR still the engine of choice to build

SR over QR all day everyday...nuffsaid

For those of you that see the project for what it is, thanks. For those of you that can't see past whatever hunk of metal is under the hood, oh well.

We'll be finishing the wiring this weekend, putting some miles on it before some tuning and tweaking. Then it'll be running a 16 hour enduro at Road Atlanta. We'll keep you updated.

I love all Nissan engines, but, sadly I've never been able to see nor drive the QR engine (I don't think it's even avalible here).

You guys need to stop fighting. The SR20 has always been a motor designed with reliable performance in mind, and has been around for a loooong time, still outperforming most engines.

The QR looks to be designed with low-end grunt and emissions in mind, and propably, doing a very good job. Did Nissan design this for their line of performance cars? No.

What we do need to remember is that people like 2j-racing are willing to R&D. Aftermarket support will grow if people are willing to go with the QR.

Good luck with your build

...The down fall the QR is the rough idle. I have a friend who has a new 2009 Rouge with a QR engine in it, bought it new, thing always idles like crap and way too much random engine RPM drops and vibrations, even Nissan dealer told her thats just the way they are... new car less than 50K on it and vibrates like crazy.
