Well no kidding ! Your talking about two cars same chasis and almost same weight . Its a de motor thats rated at 145 vrs qr rated at 175 ! Who you thinks going to win ! Put a ve in one and some boltons then we'll see !

Compare that to how many QR's have failed....yes we've had precat issues, and the butterfly screws coming loose, but other than that??????

SR's have failed for a bunch of other reason i don't care to list because there have been mentioned repeatedly in the other thread.

VE's are old tech man, get with the times. We've met many times in person at DPA and at JMR etc... I never assumed you would be as close minded as this.

But anyhow, give these guys a damn chance, let's see what they do with it. If they get one SR lover to convert, or even agree that they did something right then they have done good.

well lets first say this, youll never see my car at jmr agian.

as far as the rest, im not close minded. my buddys bolted specv was a ball ! great fun car, with tons of tq.

im not saying he shouldnt do it, i think its a cool swap, and am pleased to see something different, but you are aware im a fan of sr20's.

as far as how many srs and trannys ive been threw, 1 sr20 i had fail because i drove it home with out a water pump belt because i there was no where to pull over and it got rod knock/it was time for any upgrade anyways. trannys ive been threw many, im brutal on my set ups. the last motor failed due to assembly and tuner error, so taking that out of the equation my other 8 sr20 motors ive had have been bullet proof. one failure due to over heating/rod knock and one to assembly/tuner error. not a bad record.

for the record my buddys spec v had the first gen tranny/clutch problems wich needed the whole tranny to be replaced from nissan, he did not have any butterfly issues though. he drove the car hard, and it was reliable. im not saying they are not stout reliable motors. but like i said spec to spec , cc to cc i see the sr being the better motor.

stratton.

Couple posts back someone claimed that a bolted DE in a B13 would rape a bolted B15 QR.. I don't see that happening.

And I never said anything about the QR being a performance engine, I said the things that people have done to them with the little that is available is amazing.

IT"S A FRIGGEN TRUCK MOTOR, GO READ MY POSTS BEFORE YOU PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH.

/rant

Im the guy that has been around fast nissans for the last 15+ years also the one he has seen what it takes to build a 9sec street SR20 back in the year 2000.

I dont have to be mrs cleo to know although anything possible for a one off, but I do not think its anywheres close to a better motor.

Ever see Moto IQ's take on the comparison? QR has good and bad points..
Jim Wolf Technologies Turbo Nissan QR25DE Powerhouse Part 1

In the end its all good there both Nissan motors and its always cool to be diff.

Thats what got me into Nissans over Hondas back in the day. But credit will always be due where its deserved
and B/K motors are beasts just as much as SR's and 4G63's I wouldnt consider a QR even remotely in the same category.

this is with the old setup and QR25 in 2009, this record still stands, as well as a lot more.

2011, 1 second off of the RTR Sentra. w/ the VQ

i don't care about either engine either way. you guys need to stop nut huggin and look at the APPLICATION of what these guys are doing. everyone is so caught up on a stupid drag racing mind set its ridiculous. the car is going to be endurance road raced. its going to need torque. its going to need to be reliable. everyone agrees the 6 speed is WAY better. they are going to be running it for 16 hours (or more sometimes) an engine running at 3500-6500 rpm is going to run cooler and put less stress on everything. you are also looking past the point of having better suspension geometry and larger brakes. (which also will run cooler)

don't get me wrong i love the sr and i own more than one. but sometimes you people need to stop thinking so one dimensionally and look at what will work for the application. i think they will have a killer setup for what they are trying to accomplish.
