Kind of Reminds me of a KA24DE argument...

I like them personally, perfect for daily driving. But for performance right now, SR > QR. With another ten years the qr should have some good things going for it.

BTW bolt on de's beat bolt on qr's here, from day one.

My 370whp QR is damn fast to me, what makes you say a 400whp specv isn't fast? You drive a Bugatti to work every day I assume?

It's the traction issues that have plagued the specv for a long time but that is improving quickly.

300+whp has been made on as low as 9psi FYI. Also, I have both cars at home in my driveway, bolted SR b15(DE) and bolted QR b15, the SR can not and will not keep up.

...........Its not until recently has there been a few parties to step up to the plate to exploit what a fully worked KA is actually capable of. But, this is on a relatively "grassroots" level and a majority of them are fully massaged over for drag racing (or well, Drifting).........Nothing more. And to me, the stresses seen on one lap of say VIR is circa 10-20 times more than what a person would see in a full weekend on the strip. I am also focusing on turbo/supercharged applications

Regardless, good luck with your QR sir. I am sure it will serve you and the community well for the simple things they are doing

P.S Thanks Lerk for mentioning the KA24 before I could finish typing lol

When a QR can reliably do this you let me know, even internal built QR's struggle to reliably make 500+whp. This vid is at 30 psi of boost, 4500 rpm at will break the tires loose in 4th and spin to 130+ at will.

I am very good at detecting sarcasm and this post reeks of it. Call it simple if you wish...there is nothing simple when most of you guys stick to these old motors because you're scared of drive by wire!

Struggle? There isn't any struggle man....there is cupits car that he takes on road trips, drives 8hrs non stop, makes 30 passes at the track on track days, drives it home. The car looks and sounds stock for the most part, not even piston slap.

It's extremely reliable, he even has a hitch on the back to tow around his BBQ grill when we have meets. Everything in the car works, including the ice cold AC.

ALL THAT and it still makes 500hp, going for more soon!

And I don't have sound but what is that? 30psi on a baby turbo?

Thats 30 psi on a garrett 60 trim T3 w/ .82 turbine housing, roughly making in the 530-550whp range. If you couldnt see the speedo, that was 70 to 130mph in a matter of a few seconds, lol. Again i know even built internal QR's dont like much more than 450-500whp for a reasonable amount of time. Blame that on the stroke and open deck. If i recall the guys that had tried to go big power on them were having issues with the stock sleeves shifting, cracking, and so on just like the B series guys have.

And since then they have been sleeved, with darton sleeves who knows what they can be pushed to?

The last time I drove a drive by wire vehicle (namely a B15 Sentra) and tried to left foot at brake at the track, I almost got taken out by a fast coming vehicle because when the computer senses overlap, its cuts the throttle unexpectedly for a small amount of time........No thanks.

And only toe adjustment for alignment setting??
Again, you can keep your Sentra.

Again, good luck with your QR and drive by wire system.

Wow this thread is turning into a tampon throwing fest !

Qr's aren't a bad motor with bolt on's . Sure they will outpower a botled usdm de any day but a VE Come on ? Sure the after market is dry for the qr . Many could go on all day with this story ...My old coworker had a '03 spec with a nismo header and intake and greddy exhaust and i would leave him sitting by 2nd gear in my old b14 ve and that was on stock cams , ssac header, calum basic , hks cat back , and ebay intake . It was ball game over everytime ! Call a VE old and tired ? Qr has good tq lowend matched with quick ratio trans wich is good for short rd course or autox but a ve b13 will out handle and be faster down the straight then any spec v . Like others have said its low piston speed hurts it .
