Leave the high rpm talk for the honda forums...that's why we have a 6th gear. So what if 7200rpm doesn't make the "cool sound" it gets the job done. And destroked QR's can rev much higher, but really who has the money these days to build a "million dollar motor"?

Of course it can be done. I see 700+hp QR's in the future...but time and money. Gimme an interest free loan and I'll do it.

Personally driven several, (including one with a full set turbonetics kit and forged internals and another with stock bottom end with a T3/T04E and supporting fueling and modifications). Both tore up thier crank angle sensors within weeks (which was a recall for the earlier engines)

.............And as most know, the stock bottom ends on those, with a T3/T04E sized turbo DOES NOT like to see anything above 10-12 psi. No Thanks

Personal opinion, but its not an engine I personally see too fit in stock form.

Ill give it to you a VQ'd B15 full weight is pretty tough for a bolt on n1 cam ve to beat. It would be close unless the b13 or b14 is fully gutted and light as hell but the VQ definitely has more topend. Most stock VQ swapped specs are running 13's between 103-107mph, seen some up in the 110+ mph range with good bolt ons. That would be tough for any high compression full bolt on ve to beat.

Right now there is a car that is daily driven on 14psi and the guy whales the shit out of it...running strong for quite a long time now.

my g20 will stomp a qr

and in the se-r i've stomped a few qr's and vq's, granted in their respected cars they came in.

a g35, a 350z and a few b15's

i think i have a video of the b15, not sure if it was a spec-v or not. was a qr for sure.

fast forward to 1:40

that was before the n1 cams and ssac header.

Im sure I could build a 700whp QR as well, just dont have the desire to. The SR is proven dont need to even question the ability.

That's all well and good. But do you seriously think a bolted DE can tear up a bolted QR like some of these people have claimed to have done?

BOTH of these cars B15SE with the USDM SR20DERR motor (intake, exhaust, header), and a B15 SpecV with the same mods are at my disposal on any given day.

The SE will get torn up by the specv under any conditions. It just can't compare. A VE yes it will have a much better chance, but still...I can't see it.

In the respective cars they came in...EXACTLY, back now apples to apples!!! So then?

Can everyone wait and see?

I bet if this were a VQ being put in the B13 the lot of you would be even more butthurt, because no one would be able to come close with the BUILT NA VE's and DE's

Like ive posted before, one of these days im gonna drop some serious coin and sleeve and build a 4.1 high compression, stroked VQ and put it into a b13, make 380-400whp all motor and see what it can do on a drag strip, full interior b13 as well. No gutting. Id imagine 10's should be pretty easiliy attainable with that much power in say a 2400 lb w/ driver b13 and make one hell of a street sleeper. That and the VQ fits under our hood much nicer than the J series fits under a civics hood. Which is surprising since the civics have alot more room as far as front to back and side to side but i guess not engine bay height though. Every one ive seen has a hole cut in the hood to fit the thing. Wouldnt need to do that with a VQ in a b13 from what ive seen.

my best friend growing up had a bought a spec v. he put on nismo header, 2.5 exhaust, aem intake, advanced timing and pullies.

shortly after i bought my second nx, it had a edm 10:1 de, i put in s4s ssac 2.0 header, 2 1/4 exhaust, pullies, jwt pop charger ecu.

i layed waste to his spec v many times from digs and rolls, from a roll it was a closer race, but from a dig he could not hang. he knew and knows how to drive.

you cant compare the two at all when it comes to all motor. cc for cc the sr is better. granted the spec is heavier.

i would enjoy a fully bolted on qr in a b13, but at the end of the day the sr20 or the ve is a better choice faster in every aspect.

this argument has been gone over since the dawn of the qr. it shall never change, the sr is a better motor.

stratton.
