Thread: speed pegs out to 85

So I replaced the speed sensor and it still will not work. The only thing it does is peg to 85 when i hit 65 actual MPH according to GPS. The original sensor would do the same thing but it also had severed wires only being held by a few strands. The wires check out fine I ran continuity from the sensor side to the dash connector.
Anyone ever have this issue?
If its a simple cluster replacement that's to easy. Any ideas will be appreciated and checked.
Oh and the odometer works just fine. Along with all of the other gauges.

are you talking about the actual speedo cable or the the pinion that goes inside the tranny, cause if you need the one that goes into the tranny I have a BNIB one ill sell or trade you

It's the electric speedo style with the pinion gear. I was looking at some other forums and its looking more and more like my speedo gauge is going.
