Sounds similar to my current problem. Changed my clutch, went to start it, and it started right up....for about 10 seconds, then died. Now it won't start at all. Everything works for me, no blown fuses, just won't start.

Your problem sounds more electrical than what I'm having trouble with. Did you pinch a wire between the engine and bellhousing?

Here is the solution to my problem.

still no fix here..... I did figure out it has something to do with the ignition switch. I can put the ignition switch in the on postion and everything will work fine, but when I rotate it to the start position it blows the 30 amp Ignition fuse every time.....

HELP!!! driving me nuts!

You have to take the starter off to get the tranny out. Not including the wires though. Did you let it hang with wires still attached? I'd think it may be the wire on the side of the solenoid that goes into the starter housing (It's the other big wire opposite of the battery feed.). It may be shorting out against something, or the same with the start signal wire. It could be doing the same. That's the little wire that goes in the middle of the solenoid. Check for pinches, and/or nicks on both. More than likely the signal though. It's the only thing I could think that would blow the ignition fuse. You didn't get the tranny ground, and start signal wire swapped did you?

I did not get the tranny ground and the start signal wire swapped..... and again I will re-inspect the wires to the starter.... wondering if coincidentally the starter went bad and is grounding it self out some how

Tested all 3 positions on the ignition switch with a test light. Key in the ignition powers up the test light, ket in the on position powers up the test light, key in the start position powered up the test light until the fuse blew.

Also, tried getting the signal wire to light up from the solenoid end.... and didnt have any scuess..... gets its something between the switch and the starter grounding out or somehow got pinched..... cant really see the top of the bell housing at all, but I hope none of the harness got pinched in it because that means I gotta pull the tranny away again.....
