Thread: Running 12v to the fuel pump, where to snip fuel line?

So I hooked up the pump to 12v, and I can hear it running. I took off the driver's side rear wheel, and snipped the fuel line at the bottom of the fuel filter. However, nothing comes out . Is there any place that I'm not looking or anything I'm not doing? I have like half a tank of gas in my wrecked B13 and I'm trying to get it out.

That's not the fuel filter. That is a large, elaborate, one-way check valve for the charcoal canister system.

Look higher up than that thing and more towards the front and center of the car by the fuel tank and you'll fine the two fuel lines (return and feed) that also hook up to hard-lines. I actually think I see the thick sheath of one of those fuel lines just barely poking out in the picture you took by the frame rail.

I thought you were going to do this up at the front of the car by the fuel filter? Since you said you were going to cut the line by the fuel filter, I assumed you would be working at the front of the car in the engine bay. You know... Where the fuel filter is...

You could still do that. Or you can find the right line in the rear to cut.

That's a vent line you cut.

I guess it doesn't matter which of the lines you unhook (feed or return). Either one would work fine to drain it. However that vent line isn't gunna do squat.

You are looking for either of the two prominent hoses in the top-center of this parts diagram.

You ended up cutting 17020PA. =/

Okay see the hoses between the tank I'm lowering and the rear sub-frame? Those are the ones.

I ended up hooking up a hose to the fuel filter, and having the pump pump out most of the gas into tanks, which I then transferred into my new car. The pump got a little weak as it pumped and pumped so tomorrow to finish it off and get every last drop I'll cut one of those lines and drain the rest out that way.
