Anyone with side exit?
Is anyone rocking a side exit exhaust? I've checked out the "How To Side Exit" but I'm looking for more examples and personal experiences/thoughts.

My current setup is an sr20ve-hotshot gen6 -magnaflow reson.- magnaflow muffler-3" all the way. It's not overly loud and looks proper. However, I really want to go from the mid pipe to a Burns Stainless single phase muffler in place of the resonator. Then kick out a side pipe in front of the rear passenger wheel. Grassroots Motorsports did a sound/power comparison between the Burns and other muffler options. It was one of the quietest and was the most powerful (tested on a Civic autocross car). It will also conveniently fit within the confines of the exhaust tunnel. I figure I can shave a couple of pounds from loosing the extra piping and possibly pick up a fractional bit of power.

What my main concern (I know shouldn't matter) is looks. I don't want to look like a street racer jalopy. I like the clean and tidy look. Does anyone have an opinion on this topic or pics of a right proper side exit?

I did it on my b13 but mine is boosted. I bolted it up to my VE'd b14 and it was way too loud. Can't really give you much on an N/A application with mine. I didn't even drive around with it on my b14. Just hooked it up in my garage to see how it would sound.

Don't do a side exit with an all motor car! I got a nice ticket last night because of it. It gets obnoxious at 3000 rpm. Best bet is get an electric cutout. That way you can fuck around but when you see the boys you can switch back to a full exhaust and not get noticed.

I have a side exit on my Turbo B13. I love it but not sure how great it would be with your setup. Couldn't find many pics of mine.

don't those cutouts always end up leaking pretty quick? I've always wanted to do one but it seems unreliable

The high amount of heat from the exhaust always burns up the motors.

If you get one that's boost-activated, you have a better chance of it working longer.
