Thread: Door Handle????????

Hey guys, I'm painting my door handles, rims and mirrors. I did the rims and mirrors already.

With the door panel off looking into the actual body of the door, I can see the bolts that hold the door handle in.

Could someone walk me through the removal and installation process.
I'm sure it's easy, but that area is pretty tight, and I don't want to do anything that I can't get back on...

I already tried taping around the handles, that didn't turn out good enough..

1. remove the door trim panel and the plastic watershield.
2. Disconnect the control link rods from the outside handle, remove the outside handle retention nuts and pull the handle from the door.
3.Detach the control link from the lock cylinder, use a screwdriver to pry the retaining clip off and remove the lock cylinder from the door.
4. installation is reverse of removal.

Thanks a lot man.. I'm still a bit confused as far as the rods go. But I should be able to figure it out I hope.

The first one says The two links and outside handle retention nuts (arrows) can be reached through access hole in the door frame.

The second one says To remove the lock cylinder, detach the llink and pry the retaining clip off
