your reading the sensor voltage not the tps postion. Try the top and bottom holes the for your reading. the sensor only reads 5 volts max at wot.

I would get a new tps... I would set it to 0.50 at idle... Then if that didnt work I would borrow somebodies ECU and MAF

where are you reading the voltage from exactly?

Without insulting your intelleigence, I have 3 wires on the pigtail connector of the TPS, red(power), black(ground), white(signal). In the picture I have my 2 multimeter leads in the white and black wires of the connector with the ignition in the ON position (not running). I have the throttle wide open giving me a negative voltage reading. When I move my lead from the signal wire to the power wire I have my 5 volts regardless of where the throttle lever is. This is where I stand as of now...

Here is how you adjust it the tps. The directions I gave had you checking the wrong wires. I was unable to find this link and I use nissan datascan to check my sensors now. if this does not work the tps is bad. if you unplug the tps and the car runs the same the tps is bad. Idle should go up when you disconnect the tps with the car running.

you may have a bad distributer. How are you checking your ecu? A OBD1 ECU is really simple, it hardly gives off a cel. I just turn the screw one lock then turn it back to the origional position. The only time I got a 0505 is when I had the car in read mode and I started it. And if I remember 0505 is still idle control valve. Are you sure your reading the flashes right?

55 is the normal operation code. This is not OBD2, so it is not 0505.

I would also like to hear how a bad distributor makes for a rich condition?

I would suggest replacing your injector o-rings and checking to see if the FPR is working correctly. Make sure to use engine oil to lube the o-rings when replacing them.

In the origional post he said he was bogging and stalling. The cam position sensor in the distributer could cause that problem. I never addressed running rich, but thank you for trying to correct me. When my codes were clear in my OBD1, I never had flashes. But then I have a very old JWT ECU, so who knows.

TPS Voltage Adjustment

OK so that helped, I got the TPS dialed in right and the car runs worse then it did before. I went to try to time the vehicle and while its running I don't get a steady flash on my timing light, like an intermintent flashing. It's possible I might have a bad ignition wire, more to follow

Anyone have any idea why the timing marks would be jumping all over the place while I am trying to time the vehicle?
