Is the Subie head unit a direct plug-in, or is modification to the wiring needed?

I'd like to know as well:

1) What Subaru is it from (year/model/trim etc)
2) how did you fabricate it

Converted my A/C over to 134A, seems incredibly cold...almost ice cube level.

Also rummaged in my old parts and found these gems:
Are they too rare to trade for a nx2k center console?

It's Panasonic head unit from a 99 Outback. I got it because it cost $7 from Pull-a-part! Plus it had a CD changer, so I snagged the DIN plug to try and fab up an aux in later.

I like it because late 90s Subaru interiors used the same/similar fonts and markings as 90s Nissans. Plus it had a little bit of red to add a tiny bit of color to an otherwise OEM looking radio. At the same time I installed those, I installed some Bose 6.5" full range drivers I got from a Maxima for $14 total.

Wiring is just like wiring an aftermarket. I had a harness lying around, so I just matched up the colors.

The OEM Nissan radio brackets were just slightly modified to make it fit almost perfectly. (I forgot what I had to do, but it was super easy and obvious)

The only downside is that the illumination is green, but I don't hardly drive the car at night, so eh.

I was guessing mid to late 90's Legacy Outback, and yes, it does look similar to Nissan HU's of the era. And weather band FTW!

Sooo...I got an idea out of nowhere...

I have this RC car body, a Datsun 510 from HPI.

Well I got a new steering wheel for the DD, but I didn't know what to do with the generic horn button that came with the cheapo hub.

So RC decal + paint = homemade retro horn button!

It's not perfect, but it's much better than some of the really bad inaccurate logo "replicas" on eBay.

Holy Hell that is awesome as can be. Would you consider to make more of these?

Yeah I thought of that, but I don't know if the cost/quality would be worth it. I need to see how long this will stay good looking in a hot car with some horn use.

I used RC paint which is kind of $$ and the decal sheet came with a $50 body. But I'm looking into it, to see if this could be cheaply duplicated.

Thanks!
