Anybody remove a dash before? Any secrets to getting this thing out in one piece?

Pretty easy to remove. Should be bolts on each bottom corner and along the bottom of knee dash panels and glovebox, remove the center trim that holds radio/hvac/cubby, and two screws hidden on top by defrost vent. You might have to remove gauge cluster and cluster cover for easier access.

Wanted to bump this up. I'll be replacing the dash in my egg this spring and am looking for some pointers if anyone has any to share.

Be advised there are two 10mmpipes screwes up by each corner of the wind sheild. Just replaced my dash about 1the month ago so i still remember bolt locations.

Those little plastic grommets are a huge pain in the you know what, and they never fit back in quite right. So if you can't them back in, don't be mad

Oh and also, if you have a 91-92 with no airbag, its pretty easy to remove the steering wheel. Pull off the center piece then use your stock tire iron to loosen the nut holding the wheel, then gently pull and it will pop off. Once you get that out of the way its a lot easier to remove the dash/consoles

take your time , have a cup or small box to collect all screws and bolts .
The lower part of the center dash has the HACV controls move them carfuly to avoid the small clips that hold the hard lines from poping out and loosing those little anchor clips.

also for the 2 top bolts near the glass you will need extended socket . and light prying with a flat head to remove the vents.
too much pressure and they will crack .

The VIN number can be swapped by using a small piece of wood to push the both studs out in one piece and replaced on the new one.

good luck its not dificult but more time consuming. Having a buddy there helps with wiggling it out once un bolted.

There's also a small bolt, (10mm I think) behind the instrument cluster. Doesn't seem like it has any important purpose but it's enough to keep you from removing the dash if you forget it.
