It will work though, I run a setup with no tensioner. I found a belt that was tight, got it as close to on as we could, got a large flathead screwdriver under it, had one guy crank the engine for a sec and BAM it was on and been there since.
Classicaddict: I have no power steering and don't mind it. Having the cleaner engine bay, a few hp, and never having to worry about leaks is worth it to me but my car is far from a daily driver also. You do feel more in tune with the road while driving though, especially on a road course.
