I think I like the spacer idea better. I believe it would make some people a lot happier about daily driving these things because it sounds like the joint could be well protected from the elements? Also replacement rod ends should be available for a long time to come in many varieties. You won't be locked into one special part.
Frankly, the spacers should be all anyone needs to put together a set of these things. Something tells me you could have 10 sets made and sell them for a profit and have a success on your hands. You could also sell completed units too, however it might be harder if the price isn't right.

Maybe figure you'll sell 5 sets of the spacers to those of us who will DIY, and maybe 5 sets of full suspension links? I dunno... It really depends on how well the suspension links are done. If they are strong, relatively light weight, and can be adjusted without disassembly* then you should have a real winner on your hands. I'd buy the complete thing instead of the spacers alone if that's the case.

*Reverse threads on one of the rod ends and one side of the shaft with either jam nuts or something similar to SPL's stuff which is more like a clamp I believe.

BenFenner, I agree, the spacers (photo in my post above) is the better way to go. It will be a quicker, easier to install and better fitting solution.

As for the design of them, I need to get a rod end in to take exact measurements, then get a prototype done up before I feel comfortable selling anything. I want to make sure everything is exactly as it should be.
Shipping to Canada is brutal from Summit, so I'll get a couple rod ends shipped to my US shipping address, and I'll pickup the rod end in a week or two, then I can get the prototype done.

So here's the plan:
I'll get the rod end
Take measurements
Have a prototype built
Confirm eveything
Post up the group buy

When I sell the units, I'll *very* likely only sell the center aluminum "bar" and the spacer bushings. The rod ends will be much cheaper for anybody else to get directly from Summit (or another supplier that has the same dimensioned rod ends) along with the rubber boots from Seals-It. HIGHLY recommend the boots, and the spacers have a groove machined in them just to keep the boot ends sealed

Sounds like a sweet plan.

Should we talk about the center rods? Are they going to have one reverse thread? A section to use a wrench on to turn them? Made of aluminum or chromoly? Swaged ends?

Sorry BenFenner, I missed that part, the rods will be made out of 1" aluminum, have a flat spot to hold them with a wrench, and will definitely have one side with left hand threading and one with the usual right hand threading to easily expand/contract them.

To lock the rod in place, are you thinking jam nuts? Do those usually come with the rod ends when you buy them, or at least available for extra?

Sorry I missed that, definitely jam nuts to lock the rod ends in place. They usually come with the rod end, and in the case of the Summit Rod Ends I'm desinign for (RH thread: SUM-MAX12T and LH thread: SUM-MAXL12T), the jam nuts do come with the rod end.
