Thanks, the threaded inserts will take an even thicker OD tube, but this thickness is plenty (1/8" wall) for our cars.

I like the fact that the heims are big, should make for a very free and smooth travelling suspension, I'm pumped to get the car back on the road!

One thing to take into consideration is that if you lengthen the arm to gain camber, you increase track. That is something you don't want unless you can make equal changes up front to compensate.

Those look great. What sizes did you choose?

What are the chances of you making a few of these? I would purchase a set.

The tubing is 1-1/4" OD with 1/8" wall, and the heims are 3/4", for this "version". There is a "spacer" piece which I should have completed tonight, that will space out the stock bolts up to the 3/4" ID of the heim.


I also dropped off my bars to the powder coaters today... wasn't cheap, but at least it'll look good for a long time, and they come highly recommended as well. I'm getting them done in a shade of red similar to the car, probably a pinch darker.

Not sure the car will be back on it's wheels before I get back from NYC, but maybe. In any case, it looks like I'll be getting the alignment next Wed, because of the holiday and work obligations.

Bad news, my friends drill press isn't the greatest quality unit and the spacers didn't turn out very straight. They're barely usable in my books, but only for my own personal use. I don't consider them good enough to give them to somebody else to use.

Looks like I'll be waiting until the order I just placed for the correct tubing comes in. Good news is that the new tubing I just bought is 4130 chromoly. For what the spacers are, the extra strength won't hurt, plus chromoly's lighter than mild or stainless steel


So it looks like the car won't be on the ground until mid next week... but the light at the end of the tunnel's shining bright!

Cost may be an issue, but I would consider making a few sets. I would DEFINITELY need to do a group buy to even consider it due to shipping costs.

Unfortunately I've been running into a lot of trouble with the "spacer" pieces. Long story made short, they should be going off to the machine shop tomorrow.

I did get the bars back from the powdercoaters, and they're a close colour match to my car's red. Can't wait to see them hanging off the suspension with the huge steel jam nuts and black seals-it boots
With any luck, and I really do mean any lol, I should have the bars on the car by the middle of next week.

Good news

I got the bars back from the powdercoaters, and they're a nice red, just a pinch lighter than the car:





I also got the spacers back from the machine shop and they fit perfectly:





So the obvious next step was to put the Seals-It boots on the rod ends, pack them with grease (happened to have Mobil 1 synthetic grease):



And then put them on the car






I drove the car for about an hour between yesterday and today, and aside from needing an alignment badly, the handling actually IMPROVED IMO.

Because the old CA metal sleeve was seized onto the knuckle bolt, the suspension was constantly binding. Now the rear suspension works better (the spring takes the load instead of the rubber bushing) and it can articulate much more freely.

I should be able to get an alignment done on Tuesday, and after that I need a new power window motor for the passengers side, but I hope to hit a track day very soon!
