Friggin Noisy Falken 512's...
edit: Yeah so it turns out that my rear wheel bearings were the culprit.

The tires were fine... The noise did not go away when I put brand new michilin pilot exaltos on my car, but it did go away this weekend when I replaced both rear wheel bearings.

ORIGInAL POST:

I didn't want to buy tires again until the spring but my Falken 512's have about had it..

they are friggin noisy as HELL... gotta replace with more all-season tires on my B14 rims..

I wanted to wait until spring and put some summer tires on my Nismo 15x6.5's...

argh

Sounds like you need a louder exhaust.

Seriously though, I run 512s on my beater that has a quiet exhaust. I normally don't hear road noise because I always leave my blower on high. Whenever I happen to turn off the air, I do notice they are a little noisy.

Is your car going to be driven in the winter in the future? If so, go get yourself some snows on those rims and still get your summer tires in the spring.

the 512's are only really noisy now that they are worn out..

I'm in Tulsa and drive to KC once in a while.. so I don't want full fledged snow tires.. it'd be overkill for the few days out of the year there is snow on the roads..

All seasons like the 512's in the winter and summer tires in the spring/summer/fall are perfect for me...

I just didn't want to shell out any cash for tires until spring... and as noisy as these are (now that they're getting worn out) I'm going to have to.. I was ready to sell my car today, but reminded myself that it's just the tires!!!

I need to dynomat and foam my chassis too..

I'd just spend a few extra bucks and get the 912s. They are friggin awsome and I have never had any problems with them. Great all season traction!

I'm in love with my mechilins on my steelies.I always put em on for winter and I've noticed my gas mileage got a whole lot better.I've had falkens on my NX and they where a bit noisy so I swithed to hankooks but they suck in the corners in the wet so,I think il switch to continentels for this summer,I just put some Michelin primacy HP on the mercedes and they stick like glue even in the rain!!

Radial X,I've had em since I bought the car (2 yrs ago) I was soo surprised how nice they feel,I gave up some steering response I set em at 40psi all around.I just did some research and found out that the X labeled michelins are also called green X these tires are made to improve gas mileage. The primacy HP I got on the Merc are a bit pricey $250 a damn tire!!! I'm not sure how much the ones on my cost but there good in the snow and rain I won't hesitate on buying em again.
