Yes, you can by-pass the clutch switch if you want to.

It's not hard to replace, and you can likely get a new one from G Spec Performance

A better way to "test" it is to put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "start" position without pressing in the clutch. Then press in the clutch all the way. The engine should turn over immediately when the clutch pedal hits the floor. If it takes some time for anything to happen you can suspect the clutch pedal switch, or the power/grounds to the starter, or in very rare cases the starter itself is the culprit.

That sir, is exactly what I was guessing. A simple thing that can be really frustrating if you overlook it.

One forum member had his (recently purchased) car towed (IIRC a very long way) because the carpet was interfering with that clutch switch.

You can bypass that switch by just cutting the wires off of the clip and splicing them together. Very easy to do but don't forget your car is in gear when you go to start and don't press in the clutch.

My B13 was the same. It wouldn't start unless id push the pedal passed the firewall lol. The switch has a rubber gorment. It was gone on my B13 and dre hooked it up with one.

^Yep. Most likely the rubber grommet fell out. Its really cheap at Nissan if you can't source it.

I just bypassed my switch, basically splicing the two wires together. It has worked for me, but I'm not an electronics wizard and don't want to tell you to do something that might set your car ablaze. I did it because I have been driving manual gearbox cars for almost two decades and I don't need a switch to remind me to push in my clutch (although I make sure to tell EVERYBODY who might drive it about it).
You could probably get a good switch from a junkyard, maybe even from a 1.6 sentra. Pull yours out and take it with you to a junkyard to compare. FYI, that switch is a BITCH to get out. Make sure you have clean shoes on before you pull a spider pig on your headliner!
