My idle has been dead-rock-steady since the rebuild. AC on or off, no issues whatsoever. I had them dunk-tank clean my throttle body, replace the IACV with new OEM, EGR bypass kit, etc..etc...while the car was being put back together. Ran flawlessly for the last several months. Better than new.
Saturday the car freaked. Would not idle at all, unless I kept it a 3K+ rpm. I checked all the hoses, thinking I got a (bad) vacuum leak. No dice. Checked the battery cables, the spark plug wiring, and nothing was wrong. Which is about where my mechanical skills stop. It freaked out exactly one (1) block from my mechanics shop. How fortuitous. Maybe my Classic was missing my mechanic Mike?
Of course...after parking in a stall at the shop, and turning off the vehicle. It started back up and ran fine. Go figure. LOL.
I left it with Mike. Needed an oil change, one of my radiator fans lower brackets was loose/half missing (their issue to fix....they installed that radiator and the fans....), and I told him to drive it around this weekend and see if the idle problem would re-appear. He laughed and told me he was going looking for clover-leafs and then Honda's to race....
At the moment it is either on a lift, or locked up in "my" parking space in his garage. He literally keeps my car in a space up front, inside, yet away from traffic and where it can be seen from the front counter. He takes my steering wheel with him.
