Thread: CS shifter bushing = trouble shifting into 5th?

So I dropped in a CS bushing into my SE-R a few months ago and withing the last month or so, shifting into 5th has resulted in grinds. At first, I thought the clutch just needed adjustment, but it even does it if shifted while the car is off & attempted to even test the gear out. Every other gear is fine. Any ideas? I was underneath the car to see if the shift linkage was loose or something, but everything looks normal to me. Ideas, thoughts, or things I might consider trying?

Have someone throw it in fifth while you watch from under the car. I've only got the ES rear shifter bushing but never any problem shifting into 5th.

Try rev matching. Its easy in fifth. See what happens.

I know its recommended to have solid motor mounts with the CS shifter bracket, so maybe the engine movement might have shifted something.

Doublecheck the rear mount.
If it sagging at all,it will hinder shifting...especially 5th.

To all: I have to find a friend to shift while I watch from under the car.. I was told this also, so I'll have to see who is around. I have the ES bushing for front bracket, the CS was a new addition a few months ago.

I've got poly motor mounts on the car already. have had those for a couple years already... I think those are limiting movement, for sure, no?

The rear mount.. the tranny mount, or the rear shifter mount? As in the stabilizer? Or do you mean the motor mount closest to the tranny & shifter arms?

The mount on the crossmember toward the firewall...not the dogbone.

put back the old bushing and see if it still gives you trouble.

Good suggestion, but I don't have the stock bushing anymore. Eggman, how much would you charge me for the stock rear shifter bushing to 06824? JUST in case I need it...

I had a problem with my es shifter bushing just being too tight.I was actually going to put the stock one back on,before I thought about it more.It has a Nylon locking nut on it so you may need to loosen it slightly to free up the movement of it.
If you want a rear motor mount(on the crossmember) 30 shipped.I assume this is NOT your problem,if you have prothanes pressed in.
Or do you mean the one up by the shifter that we all replace with the ES sway bar bushing?

im running no front motor mount, i am running pressed in hocky pucks on the transmission mount and rear mount, and i have the cs shifter bushing and i get into 5th gear just fine......I really need to get off my ass and finish hocky pucking my pass. side mount.
