fifth gear pop out
Who on here has driven their car for any amount of time with pop-out issues? My main car went down for awhile and its going to cost a bit to fix. Im thinking of running my se-r for a few months.

its a pain, and eventualy if you get on the highway alot you will dislike your car.

I dont suggest buying a used tranny unless its a B15 or P11 ,

What i did was replaced the complete 5th gear with the courtesy nissan kit.

I have on for sale if intrested, this way you know your rolling with a NEW 5th gear.

If all the other gears are good why scrap them.

I've heard of people using bungie cords to keep it in 5th gear. I don't have any personal experience with it (knock on wood), but it may work. I don't think it would cause any more damage than what is already there, but hopefully someone a bit more knowledgeable than I will chime in. The 5th gear kit is a pretty good deal if you can do the work yourself.

I have a spare trans in good shape..i would love to put the courtesy kit in but i dont have the skills to do so. Im 38 and i work and go to school full time. So im on the highway alot. I can actually hold my car in fifth with out a whole lot of issues. I have a armrest in my se-r so its not big deal. I have the spare lsd trans,clutch/pp and throwout bearing, new rear main seals, axles seals and flywheel resurfaced i just need someone with skillz to help me out. It would cost a arm/leg to have a mechanic do it. This would only be for a month to six weeks while i got my main car up on the road again anyway...my big issue is my car has never seen snow and my luck we will get bombed with snow in the next month or so if i drive it.

I drove my car with 5th gear pop out ...it started off poping out once in a while and then sooner and sooner. Later on eventually after trying to hold it in gear (by hand) it would make my motor jump up and down as if the motor mounts were shot and i was tryign to do a burn out or something haha. I ended up driving it in 4th gear for a few months, maybe 8 months. The main down fall of doing this was the gas milage. I would be driving 30 miles on a high way to work and then back another 30 6 days a week had to be doing somewhere around 65ish(i was always running late haha and always wanted to race back to rest and go to sleep to be ready for the next day haha) rpms would be around 4500-5800 ..my cluster doesn't work HEHE)

So throw the b*tch into 4th gear and drive it.
