Couple questions, 1993 SE-R
Hi,
Couple questions, the doors on both sides of the car are sagging: I've been told I need to get new hinges. Is there a retailer I can buy from?
Second question, when I use the FM radio, it makes a weird crackling and popping sound, the AM works better, but the quality is still weird. When I play cassettes it works ok, as long as the volume is down. Any insight/resource is appreciated.
Thanks,
Cameron

For hinges you can either gets some at a junkyard or get them new. Recommended sources for new ones are forum member Greg V:
G Spec Performance - SR20 Community Forum - The Dash
Or Courtesy Nissan in TX: Genuine Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com

Don't know about the stereo, might have a bad ground? I thought I was the only one around who still had cassettes?

Awesome, great site. Is this the right part?
CourtesyParts :: [90410M] HINGE ASSY-BACK DOOR - Sentra (B13) 1991-1994

And if it was a bad ground, how would I go about fixing it? Sorry, I'm a real newbie. And by cassettes I mean cassette adapter for my iPod

That says back door, which might refer to the rear doors. If so, I don't think that's what you want (unless you have a 4 door B13). To fix a ground, you'll have to pull out the headunit and figure out which wire is for the ground and make sure it is connected well to the chassis (usually on a bolt).

On the hinges, just call GSpec and talk to Greg. He will hook you up with what you need. He drives a B13. I think generally all you need is the lower hinge. There are some write ups either on this forum or the old one about how to replace the hinge. I used a scissor jack to position the door, IIRC, and there was a need to pull a fender liner or something like that. The procedure has been well documented -- so it's worth your time to find the write ups by searching.

BTW, Welcome to the community.

I've managed to do the hinges (always did both top and bottom) without removing the fender. The proper 12mm wrench helps a lot.

Get the hinges from Greg V.

It sounds like maybe your speakers are bad.

if your having an issue with your radio and you say cassettes im guessing its the stock radio. i highly suggest getting a cheap after market radio and a cheapo set of 4 new speakers...........while these cheap parts will be no were near impressive it will be a massive improvement over stock.

Call Greg directly on the telephone. Click on one of his web-site links in GSpec's Section, the link is in his signature, and you can get the phone number.

I don't know about whether we have a "dismantling part of your dash" thread (?). Good question, however you can figure it out. I figured it out, and I am pretty damn clueless mechanically. Start examining your dash around the center area. There are screws holding it all together. Like under the ashtray there's two of them. You'll find the rest. #2 phillips head, and some searching around and it will start to come apart. If I did it, anyone can.

Bingo. Agreed.

Fix or directly replace a broken 15 year old electronic product? Hell no. And like most factory speakers, the OEM speakers were utter and complete garbage when new.

I mentioned it above. There are two screws under the ashtray. Remove them. Then find all the rest. Remove them. Then the center section of your dash will start to come apart. Trust me, you cannot possibly be less mechancally inclined than myself.
