Thread: NX2000 front brake conversion

Ok I just installed these today and it stops great! but the pedal feel is not so great. I did bleed the brakes and there is no air in the lines and they're not leaking anything. When I have the car turned off and I press the pedal its realy stiff like normal but when the car is on the pedal goes down farther than it used to and is kind of spungy feeling but not realy bad. Is this what a normal brake swap does without the NX MC? Also I tryed my friends SE-R's brakes with it on then off and it stays the at the same stiffness either way.

You might try bleeding the master cylinder. That's what really did it for me.

First, double check your caliper bleed at each wheel, and tap the caliper piston housing a few times with a small hammer to dislodge any stubborn bubbles while you are bleeding. You might be surprise what you find.

Then go to the MC. Get a 10 mm flare nut wrench and loosen one of the line connections while comeone slowly depresses the brake pedal. Tighten the line before the bottom of the stroke. Repeat as needed. Usually it's the lines that exit the top of the MC that will produce some air bubbles.

When you are finally absolutely sure that you have no air in the system you might consider adjusting out some of the play in the pedal. There is an adjustment in the pedal bracket that basically allows you to move the pedal down a little, thereby decreasing the pedal travel when you step on the brakes. Do not over do this or your brakes will drag.

Again, what Bill says - if the pedal doesn't feel right it's just air in there somewhere. THERE IS AN ORDER to bleeding - Left rear, right front, right rear, left front. If you didn't follow that order, you very likely still have air in there. The pedal WILL feel right when the air's gone, unless you got a faulty wheel cylinder - possible with today's rebuilds, but if it's faulty, it'll be leaking and you'll spot fluid on your wheel. It's really unlikely a new factory mc is faulty. Make sure your vacuum feed for the power brake canister isn't leaking.
