If your planning on being away any longer than 8-12 months i would do the following.
Plug a towel/rag into your muffler end pipe - stops condensation and moisture in and out.
Plug up your intake.
Drain the coolant, because if you have cheap coolant - over time it can seperate and yoru left with water at the top and coolant at the bottom - bad for corrosion.
Drain all your petrol - moisture will be absorbed and start rusting out your tank (ive been left with this problem). Im still yet to figure out if the petrol cap should be left open or closed.
Squirt some oil down each spark plug well to keep the bores around the rings lubed up and rust free.
Armarall etc all your windows and door seals thoroughly to stop them drying out.
Make sure all doors and windows are closed. The use a moisture absorber in the car as suggested.
