the thing i dont like about the vented hoods is that they allow in snow, water, salt and other things. i dont need that on my show finish t3. other than that, unless you specifically want it for the c/f look, just get one and paint it. at least then you get the benefit of an ultra light hood. not to mention a strong one.
i wish i still had the pic of my wifes altima when she totalled it. only thing that survived was her c/f hood, lol.

the vented hoods would be good for turbo applications to get some air in the engine bay keep things cool,, but yea getting water, snow, ect in there isnt good

I under stand the concept of any type of vented hoods, but... not all hoods are created equal. Mike K had a discussion about vented hoods years ago, either on npm, scc or the old mailing list. Basically, he discussed how important it was for vent location for air coming in(some parts of the engine have higher temps than others... no duh), but venting the air out(bringing cooler in air, got to vent the warm air out somewhere).

I don't think I've ever seen a b13 vented hood that had any type of temperature test and then designed accordingly. Heck, I'd rock any type of vented hood, carbon fiber, fiberglass, or stock that actually lowered engine bay temps... proven.

It sure does look purty, though.

i would have to see the difference between vented hoods and non vented hoods tempature drops and increases as you do have the vented hood and dont have the vented hood, i would say it makes some differences but not a ton..

PLACEMENTS of vents also would have to do with the effectiveness of its cooling also

it makes a big difference, especially when it comes to a turbo car. i have a vented hood and i dont drive my car in the rain, snow etc, it only comes out on sunny dry days.

stratton.

A little to much money for this hood.

I whish Fibre Images made a vented hood. I have their hood on my car and that thing has held up for the last 8 years.

A vented hood anywhere over the motor of forward over the exhaust manifold will reduce under hood temps. Just sitting at idel the hot air will rise out of the hood with cool air coming in from the bottom of the car.

Most cars like the ones we drive on the street heat soak from light to light driving. Trust me under hood temps would drop alot with this hood.

If the vent is over the header there is nothing to worry about.

If it is over the motor then rain might be a worry on a hard down poor as it might fill up the spark plug holes.

I know on my 20V it is not going to be that easy as they are blocked off.
