Here is my 24-1 CAS disk setup. If you follow the aem instructions your car will not start. Guranteed. The setup is for the rwd sr20det's which are COP, you need to change a couple settings. One main one is your Spark teeth count. Change from 1 to 6, basicly because the rwd are cop they are only waiting on one spark detection to fire the each individual coil. Since ours are single coil, we need 4 sparks from the same ignition trigger not one per like the rwd.

Basicly you take 24 teeth and divide by 4 (amount of cylinders) leaving you 6 for a spark teeth value. This will give you the 4 ignition sparks per engine cycle. If you were to check your timing you would get a spark for #1 and #1 only with it setup as 1 for the tooth value.

Change that and that ignition phasing I have should put you in the ballpark, I believe someone else i helped ended up at 3.9X for their value. It all depends on distributor position and so on. Everyones will be slightly different.

@cortrim. The insteuctions from aem are for the rwd sr. I tried a while ago and never got start sync.
@ashton. I have sync on in my home view, and have a phasing value of 5 something. It just wont stay idled. I will try to play with phasing and report back.
Thanks everyone!

the one for the ka24de works with the 54mm cas. The sr20det instructions are for a rwd sr20det and will not work. Mine is set up just the per the ka24de instructions and my car running fine.

Totally forgot they had the ka24de one on there. Makes sense that it would work. Ignition phasing is probably going to be slightly off as again most have ended up at 3.9XX to 4.3X or so. Again you can look at the KA24 complete chart and that will give you an idea. Also with the stuff i mentioned to you as well how to get a more stable idle.

yeah mine ended up at 4.98 after the timing was set.

Yep, it all depends on distributor location really and if the motor is built and been decked then difference in cam location from that. Most ive seen end up between 3.9 and 4.9 somewhere.

Ok. So i tried the ka setup with a ign value from 3-5 and could only get it to turn over with 6% throttle. I player with falling and rising edge but got big backfires. Also was setting the fans to come on at 10 deg, and the dont come on. Im suspecting the ems may be faulty. I have logged the starting issues. Any ideas?

Still seems like an idle settings issue, Being it wont go into idle settings unless your less than 3% throttle or whatever you have it set to. You can change all of those settings for idle enrichment when cold and so on. Send the calibration to me and ill look it over for you.

Your probably running way too rich on your map, Same way my base cal was. Had to take out a lot of fuel off the idle portion and pretty much everywhere in the map exept for the high boost areas. Just a thought. You could try taking out a ton of fuel to the point it doesnt run soo rich. Im guessing you have a wideband? If its blowing black smoke trying to run i assume the wideband is reading dead rich 10.0:1 if you have an AEM wideband. If so I recommend you to take out a ton of fuel off the lower portion of the map where your car would be idling at and lower rev range. Trust me it took me a good hour to clear up the map to the point it idled good at 14.5-15.0:1, before that it was so rich it was flooding it out.
