Thread: Best brake pads for endurance racing?

I like Greg because he's a guy familiar with the dying SR20 community and because he's served us well for a long time and often is able to get VE and other non-DE parts that are difficult to find. But... his website is not updated on regular basis so the prices he charges do not match those on the site and he does not provide shipping charges unless you specifically request ahead of time, which seems odd to me. I don't need to find out I'm paying $20 to have my stuff shipped 2nd day if I can get it for $10 by waiting a few days for standard delivery.

I have been running the carbotech pads xp10 and xp12 and haven't had any issues with bite or fade but I do use them hard. I have to use the stock ad18's for scca club racing rules and those are really the only option. Only issue I have with them is how long they last I may get a race weekend and a half out of them if I'm lucky. I need to find a way to get some brake ducts to cool them and I will probably get a lot more life out of them but I haven't had any luck fabing anything up yet

Pretty much why I used carbotechs (xp6) in the front of my car. To fit the AD18 caliper. Mostly a street car, maybe a few events a year, if that. Last time, I had fluid fade so that ruined how much I could really find out what the pads are capable of. Now I have that fixed, I can find the next weakest link! I have some porterfields RS-4 in the rear that work well also. I do not go hamm out racing like some of ya'll do.

I have enjoyed them and I am able to late brake at a lot of tracks and get most of my passes that way so I am happy with them but would love to be able to use the ad22 calipers so I could have some other options

I run G-Loc R10's or 12's on the NX with something cheap on the rear.

I run Carbotech pads. You can't beat their pads. I have raced with them on my NX and my 240. As autoxse-r said we can out brake many of cars. They have good bite and don't fade. They wear very well. I would recommend them to anybody.

We ran the Hawk Blues at Watkins Glen this year with excellent results. Approximately 2 hours on test day, and then another 12 hours or so throughout the weekend. Still on the same pads and looks like there's plenty of life left. No fade whatsoever, extremely pleased with these.

Anybody have corrosive dust problems with their Hawk Blues? I've been reading up on them. This is one of the issues that is mentioned regarding the Hawk Blues.

yes, the hawk blues are nasty with dust... and grind into the wheels.. its just part of racing... I don't much care about race wheels (not like I clean them constantly)
