Hawk blue HB213 FTW!

This x 1,000,000. We just ran Hawk Blues with AD22VF at Watkins Glen. That track is fastest we've been on, and those pads were awesome. But not only that, we ran Friday test session, 6 hours Saturday, and another 6 on Sunday, we still have half the pad left. We also ran stock Rock Auto rotors, I believe they were $30 each shipped. One recommendation I can make, make sure you have air going to the wheel well and the brakes. On the 200sx with the fog lights removed that creates a good air tunnel, that's part of the reason they last. No air means they overheat and wear out quicker. Oh and, it would also be beneficial if you're able to bed them in properly.

I tried carbotech ONCE on the AD22VFs and absolutely hated them.. so overpriced and not the bite I expect or want. I couldn't get them off the car fast enough.

Which series of Carbotechs? Since they have about a handful.

Those rotors are some big thick boys and I have not overheat them but never ran an endurance event either. I used some Raybestos rotor blanks.

Kyle, not sure if that was directed at me or someone else, and if to me if you were asking what I was going to run in the rear on the Maxima brakes?

I'm actually thinking of just running street pads in the rear on the Max brakes, anything better and they will probably lock up. Last B13 I was road racing, we went through several race weekend and I don't think the rears were ever replaced and they were the original calipers/rotors, not upgraded.

Chris, would that be the HB213E.626 part mentioned earlier in this thread, or something else? I need to get a good 14 hours + out of them, sounds like @metro_se-r is having good luck there. I don't see any 24 hour races coming up this year, but maybe next if I don't blow up before then.

Yes, HB213E.626. I got them from HawkPadsDirect.com, found them to have the best price and free shipping. You're going to need to modify the pads a bit. Two of the pads have small tabs on the back that you'll have to grind off. And you'll also have to grind off the top of the metal backing so that it's almost even with the pad material. Compare them to the stock AD22VF pads and you'll see what I mean, but they work great.

Okay guys.

I get my pads from raceshopper and found their pricing to be the best actually AND if anyone is a new customer with them, just tell them Mike Weber referred you and your 1st order is an additional $10 off Call toll free 18007338380 ...either Chris or Edwin will probably answer. You are welcome to comparison shop of course and see if u can get them cheaper elsewhere (which I doubt with the additional $10 off anyway)

On what Carbotech I tried, I actually tried 2 different kinds after having such a horrid result with the xp8 I believe I tried the xp10s (which I found to be even worse) so if there is something other than those 2, I have no interest in trying them since I've had nothing but excellent results with the Hawk Blue pads!

and YES, HB213E.626 ..just remember to file off the tabs is all!

Just for fun, I did some quick web surfing:

$115.94 (free shipping)
Hawk Blue 9012 Brake Pads; FMSI ID, D484 EAGLE TALON

$118.00
Hawk 'Club Racing' Brake Pads - Import Replacement Parts

$123.80 (free shipping)
Hawk Performance HB213E.626 Brake Pads

$137.57
HB213E.626 - Hawk Blue 9012 - Racing Brake Pads

$137.14
Hawk Performance brake pads Blue 9012 HB213E.626 Mitsubishi

Pricing is valid as of a few minutes ago when I looked these up and may not be valid when someone else visits those same pages later. Free shipping where known, some of those others may ship free but I didn't dig far enough to verify. I have no affiliation with any of these people or companies (though I do like Greg V, of course). Calling on the phone and haggling a better price may or may not work for any of these companies, though @Chris101 does say that calling and dropping his name will get a $10 discount.

..and interesting.. looks like raceshopper might have raised prices a bit.. not sure what's going on there but I just saw one of my former invoices that said $112.37 so I dunno... (wasn't for this year though)

I'm going to be road racing my B13 soon, and am looking for options for pads that are cost effective but do a good job at braking. I've got the AD22VF setup in front, and the larger Maxima setup in the rear, Altima master cylinder w/200sx proportioning valves. LeMons, ChumpCar, etc. Planning to install some brake ducting up front to help keep temps down.

Autozone carries that the ad22 rotors, 2 year warranty
