Just had a guick question for my fellow racers. I am soon gonna be club racing and just finishing up my build and was wondering what oil; brand and weight do you race with?

a lot depends on your engine, (its condition) outside temps and track temps along with if you have an aux oil cooler or not, etc.
in general we use a mix of 5w30 with 1 qt o 15w50 ....but on really hot 90 degree days we might end up doing 2 qts 15w50 w 1.5 qts of 5w30 ...heck, 1 track day we even used straight 40weight to keep things from getting too hot... you have to see what works best for your engine by trial and error IMHO
1st thing you need is a good mechanical temp gauge (and oil pressure gauge) so you can monitor properly! DO NOT RELY ON STOCK IDIOT LIGHTS!

I assume you are joking with that one..
Anyways, I go with 3 quarts of Valvoline synthetic 10W-30 and 1 quart of 5W-30. Sometimes Mobil-1 synthetic if I can find it but it's harder and harder to find that weight at Walmart where it's like 6-8 bucks cheaper for the big 5 quart jug than the Auto parts stores.
Oh and also don't skimp on the oil filters and get the $2 Frams. Get the real Nissan ones from the dealer. They're only like $8 bucks.

Get a proper synthetic that's ester based. Thanks to a u.s law suit any oil with part synthetic ingredients can be called 'synthetic'. Mobile 1 isn't even synthetic, and is vastly overrated.
Fuchs, motul and silkolene make good examples of ester based oils.

FYI the Nissan Filters are made in China now....not Japan. I would love to cut one of each apart to see if theres a difference, but either way,if its made in china...no thanks.
sorry to go off topic.
I dont race, but I switched from Mobil1 to Rotella 5w 40 full synthetic for both daily and trackdays.
I need to send it off for testing but it seems to hold up better and look cleaner than the Mobile 1 when changed.
