Go fast goodies... hmmm
Does an ebay sourced SSAC header and your compatible downpipe count as 'go fast'? I mean, the cat is gutted, there is no muffler, and it's a side exhaust, but the motor is an '01 RR stock. Yeah, it's timed at 21 degrees and there is a short 'hot' air intake mounted to an OEM maf, but it's not exactly ground breaking. The truth is, go fast goodies are really in weight reductions and the suspension. The front sits on $30 Sensen struts and Road Magnets, with no struts bar and a stock sway bar. We could even downgrade to a thinner sway the base and SE models used, would probably work better. The big stuff is in the rear. Bent beam, Stillen sway bar (thickest and rarest you can find), strut bar, Tein SS adjustable struts with coilovers. That's where this car is fun, it actually loves to turn. I have to give
@Chris101 lots of credit, she's given me some good advice and recommendations. Always pays to listen to those with experience. At Watkins Glen we constantly outran a VE powered B13. At Thompson we had several drivers come up and ask us what motor we were running or if we had a turbo. Nope. It's all in the setup. The better you turn the more speed you'll carry through the apex, the more speed you carry the faster you'll exist the corners and of course the faster you'll go in a straight line.
Here's a shot of the side exhaust and the rear suspension in action:
