Martin's slow...
I hate Streets. Tire grinding disaster that track is. If I had to guess, 1:20s somewhere. We ran 1:32s at Big Willow, so this is just an assumption. Maybe we'll run a test session there, just to see...

Yeah, I blew the motor. Headgasket went. Turns out, we've had a 10:1 motor (silver VC, iron exh manifold, still 10:1, odd) this entire time and it was tuned for 9.5:1. Detonation eventually ate the top corner off of a couple of the bores until the headgasket's sealing surface was completely gone and it ate all the coolant (pegged our 260* gauge). Still ran pretty good, considering. SR20, strong like BULL to have lasted this long! We'll run a little more race gas next time (we got lazy and were just using regular old ACN91 shit fuel) and we'll rebuild one of the other half dozen SR20s we've got lying around. This block/head are complete and utter trash. Stay tuned for a future installment pretty soon.
And no, you can't hear detonation in a racecar with the windows down, the exhaust dumping underneath, and a helmet and earplugs on. You can't hear shit other than:
"RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Oh yeah, as a teaser: we've acquired a B14 SE-R to compete as the #37 MPTCC car. Article to come soon for that one as well.
