Can you run a standard full size batt or does it absolutely have to be a drycell?

Ps : passwordjdm.com had a nice mount for pc680 batteries, I think MOTOiq used one.

I say if you dont use the trunk other than hauling a bag af grocories or if you dont have a spare tire anymore mount it in the trunk . Here is how mine is mounted (b13) its the same as isfahan's . Its a interstate battery as my yellow top optima crapped out . I recomend if your running a full size battery mount it as low in the chassis (center of gravity) as posible . Full size mounted in the trunk will help with braking and handling somewhat other's will argue this . I plan a going to a smaller battery and moving it like you want behind the passenger seat .

I am not sure if the battery needs to go all the way in the trunk or if I can put it behind the passenger seat mounted to the floorboard.
Behind the seat would save some wire and put it in a more central, lower location in the car,and I have seen racecars with them there as well.

What group do you run with? Some groups have requirements for this so you might want to check ahead.

Blair,I am just planniung to start doing some HPDE events.I have done some autocross and a small local track unsanctioned mini timeattack.
I may never really compete in door to door racing, and thats fine.I just wanna go out and have some fun,and learn to drive the car without worrying about having to drive it to work on Monday.I want to keep my dd a little more liveable, and make the track car...well tolerable, and fun.
I do plan to use a small lightweight battery and an aluminum box style mount like the Braile and odyssey ones I have seen.
What do you recommemnd? You mentioned Hawker.
Thanks

I remember reading that way back when Mike K posted that link you put up.Good info there, too.

Plan ahead. You plan to do HPDE's for now but what about later. What class do you want to run? a street prep class or race prep, or one day IT. Get the rules of the class and club SCCA/NASA you think you want to run in. The changes you make now will affect you later.

A note on balance These cars are nose heavy. You want to use at least a Miata size battery in the rear to help offset the balance. the right rear is the lightest. Whatever you use, secure and rerinforce the mounting points.
