battery relocation
Looking for some input on relocating the battery.I will probably be running a lightweight battery, such as a PC680 or something small.

This is for a track only car.
I am not sure if the battery needs to go all the way in the trunk or if I can put it behind the passenger seat mounted to the floorboard.
Behind the seat would save some wire and put it in a more central, lower location in the car,and I have seen racecars with them there as well.

Looking for you guys opinions on this, thanks

If using a lightweight battery, I'd keep it under the hood. I would only place a larger battery in the trunk to distribute weight.

I think it still makes sense to move the battery even it if is small and light (but not in a drag car obviously). Road track only car? You betcha put it behind the passenger seat area. Tons of racers do just that. Check your sanctioning body for rules on battery placement if applicable.

Shouldn't this thread be in the Road Racing section?

depends on the setup weather or not you could still keep it in the bay.

This is where I put mine. I had to drill two new holes and used two existing holes to bolt it to the floor. This is with my DD and a full-size battery. It is pretty darn stable in there.

I really dont want it under the hood just to save room, and keep it clean under there.

The road racing people will find it in the road racing section.

Don't forget the light-weight copper wire with the speed holes!

I don't see the point of getting a lightweight battery and moving it to the trunk when in fact you will get some weight for the amount of wire running all they way to the trunk. If you are really that strict on weight reduction then keep it under the hood.

That doesn't make sense. Wire at the most for 2 gauge is 2-3 lbs at the most. My lightweight battery weighs 11 lbs. My full size battery weighs 36 lbs......

That is like saying don't get a carbon fiber hood if you are going to paint it.
