A reasonable description of GT cars;

GT1 - Tube frame 650 to 750 HP - 2700ish# Sort of like a Hooters Pro cup car on steroids. Corvettes, Mustangs, etc.

GT2 - Tube frame 350 to 450 HP - 2200ish# Sort of an old IMSA GTU car type of prep. 350Z's, 911's, Sunbeam Tiger.

GT3 - Tube frame 250 to 300 HP - 2000ish# Paseo's, 240SX's, 280Z's, Probe/ Cougar/ 4cyl Mustang.

GTL - Tube frame 150 to 175 HP - 1850ish# B13's, B14's, B15's, Tercels, CRX's, Mini's, 1200's, Corollas.

Almost all of the cars are converted to Rear Drive except in GTL there is about a 50/ 50 mix of Front and Rear drive. If the car came front drive it can be converted if it came Rear drive it has to stay that way.

I am very impressed with how well the yellow car runs. Ran right with the 44 car for quite a while and I know that is a very fast car. Do you ever venture as far north as Daytona? If so I'll come and see you run there.

It looks like it was an early Corvette Roadster. That would make some sense as in looking at the schedule that SERacer posted above it would appear that they combined groups 5 and 6, or maybe just took some of the classes out of group 5 and put them in group 6. At any rate, a Corvette would run in either GT1 or SPO. In Florida there are a few guys that have those old Corvettes and also some that have Cobra kit cars and they all run together in SPO from what I remember seeing at one of the Regionals at Daytona or Sebring.

Soul, you are not so far from Sebring, you ought to go check one of those races out. In fact the Turkey Trot is scheduled for next weekend. Look at the Central Florida web site (CFR-SCCA > Home ) and check it out. Call one of the officers listed in the monthly magazine, (look under the Checker on the web site) and I bet they will get you a guest pass to come and see all about it.

Thanks for explaining the classes Rob E. This car came along way from ITS chasing those RX-7's to having those Mazda boys literaly scratching their heads.

That's the race when the VVL started to really show it's potential. The camera is bolted to a fixture on the roll bar. There is also a damper on the fixture.

Rob E is right it's a Corvette roadster.
I will be going to the Turkey Trot next weekend. If you can make it, stop by for a min. I hope to make it to Daytona some day with this car. That should be fun. 8500 rpm in 5th gear

I've known Juan for years. All these years we have been racing we have only been on the track together twice. That was back when he ran the Escort in ITA and I was running ITS with the Sentra. The last race the hondas were allowed to run in the NASA class H-1. We ran the same times, I was a tick quicker. One day it will come.
